UPDATE on EPCOT Construction in Disney World
EPCOT is currently undergoing a massive multi-year transformation at Disney World. The park has seen some major changes, including new rides, restaurants, lands, and more.
But, the project still has a decent way to go! We’re still seeing the middle of the former Future World blocked off by construction walls.
We like to keep an eye on the construction to see what kind of progress is being made, so come along with us to take your latest look at what’s happening!
EPCOT Construction
World Discovery
Over in World Discovery, we noticed that there are no walls up anymore on one side of the Refreshment Station. You can see right in!
This area was previously known as Cool Wash and is usually only open seasonally. The spot has been closed for several months now though for this re-theming.
But, it looks like the transformation is pretty much done, so hopefully it will reopen soon! We especially need a spot like this during the very hot summer months.
World Celebration
World Celebration is the one land that’s probably the furthest away from being finished. The middle of the park does have the new Creations Shop and Connections Cafe & Eatery available though.
But, we’re still waiting for things like CommuniCore Hall and Plaza to be completed! This is what the area should look like once completed:
Here’s another look:
And here’s what is looks like right now:
So, there is definitely progress being made, but still a long way to go! These two areas should be completed sometime later this year.
This big building is what we’re assuming CommuniCore Hall is, and it’s been up for a while. We did see some siding go up on it recently!
Now, it looks like the overhead roofs of CommuniCore Plaza are up and being worked on.
It’s got a lot more work in its future, but things are starting to take shape!
World Nature
World Nature is right next to World Celebration and includes things like The Seas and The Land pavilions. But, there are other things being worked on!
One of the main things under construction is Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana. This is going to be a walkthrough attraction that teaches you about water.
The attraction is supposed to be open sometime this fall, but much of the attraction looks to be nearly finished!
We can see the entrance to Journey of Water right here with the sign even already up on the kiosk.
The awnings are also already up on some parts of the path, which we had seen a couple of weeks ago.
There’s also a ton of vegetation installed, which is a good sign! This typically is done toward the end of an attraction being finished, but not always.
Across the path, there is more work happening on the area. This is likely not a part of Journey of Water, but something is definitely being built!
You can see these curvy walls are up…
…and there are a bunch of cement blocks up against the walls.
Here’s another look at the work being done!
We’ll be sure to keep an eye on things and give you any important updates we see.
World Showcase
U.K. Pavilion
In the U.K. Pavilion, we spotted some work being done in the back of the pavilion on the brick townhouses.
There were workers up on scaffolding that looked like they were working on the back of the and unit.
This doesn’t seem to be a refurbishment of any kind, so we’d guess it’s just some regular maintenance happening.
Morocco Pavilion
The Morocco Pavilion has been under construction for a while now, with most of the work focusing on the tops of buildings.
We’ve noticed some scrim at the very tops of various buildings around the area.
It seems like they’re just doing some maintenance on these, but we’ll let you know when we see things completed!
Stay tuned for more Disney World news and updates!
