Boba Fett In The Bad Batch?
Did the animated series foreshadow a big cameo for another of Jango’s decendants?
Possible spoilers ahead. Click away if you are averse to successful speculation.

Still here? Good.
So, here’s the backstory: There is an undeveloped arc of The Clone Wars, which pits Cad Bane in a super suspenseful standoff with Boba Fett.
And you’re saying to me, through the screen, “So what?”
Well, the “so what” is how Star Wars might be looking to shore up its lore.
Bane of The Bad Batch

In last week’s episode, Bane, one of the nastiest bounty hunters in the Star Wars pantheon showed up on The Bad Batch.
Once on Clone Force 99’s tail, he went right after Omega, setting up all kinds of ramifications and questions about the remainder of the first season and the direction of the series.

You see, when George Lucas and his crew (including Dave Filoni) were working out the original timeline of The Clone Wars, back when it was on Cartoon Network (yes, this was a thing), there was to be a moment where Boba Fett and Ban dulled — Western/Samurai style — in the streets of some galactic backwater.
More Background on Bane and Boba
I wrote about this amazing, but unfulfilled scene, previously:
Now, check out the actual scene:
Finally, the end of the arc proved who was the best bounty hunter in the galaxy and left Boba with a forever reminder of Bane’s prowess, as well.
Fast Forward: Fett In The Bad Batch
Fast forward nearly a decade (our time) and the duel between Hunter and Bane looked an awful lot like the animatics of that unproduced scene between Cad and Fett.
And the stakes were at least as large, what with Omega being taken by the dastardly Bane.

Okay, prescient points of fact:
- Omega is a clone, just like the “Regs” and “Clone Force 99.”
- That means she is a “daughter” of Jango Fett.
- And a de facto “sister” to Boba Fett.
Do you see what I am getting at here, kids? If you wanted to shore up connections between the animated series and the live-action Disney+ Star Wars shows, what would you do?

The Bad Batch: Making Connections
Welp, we already have connections between The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Rebels thanks to Bo Katan. And we have Boba Fett appearing almost everywhere, but not yet on The Bad Batch.
So, why not have Boba Fett show up in an effort to save Omega? Meanwhile, this turn toward the good might make whatever vigilante justice Boba doles out in The Book of Boba Fett make more sense.

I can’t claim ANY of this as my own thinking, beyond the obvious entertainment value of this theory.
Brian Silliman suggested as much in his latest for SyFy.com:
Everything is coming up Boba Fett right now, with Season 2 of The Mandalorian bringing him back, and The Book of Boba Fett set for this December. In the comics, Boba is the driving force of the new crossover extravaganza, “War of the Bounty Hunters.” It’s a full-on Bobaissance, so why not go whole hog and finish this pivotal piece of Boba history?”
Meanwhile, my good friends Alex and Mollie Damon doubled down on Fett in a recent posting on their YouTube channel.
We’ll be keeping our eye on the Holonet in the meantime.
