It’s Official Boba Fett is Getting His Own Disney+ Spin-Off Series
We’ve got a VERY special surprise for all you Star Wars fans. Disney has officially announced that the beloved Bounty Hunter Boba Fett is getting his own Disney+ spinoff series!
During the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian in an episode dubbed “The Rescue” there was a post credits scene revealing that the bounty hunter played by Temeura Morrison would be back in…The Book of Boba Fett.
Now, let’s be clear that many fans arguing that The Book of Boba Fett may just be a subtitle for Season three. However, as RadioTimes points out, a Boba Fett series has been rumored for ages which has us a bit more optimistic that the series is on its way.
However, another thing worth mentioning is that a week ago during their Investor’s Day call, Disney announced a whole host of awesome Star Wars-focused projects but said nothing about the possibility of a Boba Fett series.
In the final sequence of the Season 2 Mandalorian episode, Boba took over Jabba the Hutt’s Palace. He sat down on the throne before the announcement was made for the series with an airdate of December 2021.
Other than this subtle nod to the show, what Star Wars fans can expect for the series is unclear. However, it is being suggested that Fennec Shand (played by Ming-Na-Wen) could also play a pinitol role in the new series and could be seen lounging along side Boba Fett.
With the hints in the final scene, it would be reasonable to assume that Boba’s attempts to take over Jabba’s Empire will take center stage. It will also be interesting to see what sort of tie in the series will have with The Mandalorian. Once key takeaway from the Investor’s Call last week is that Lucasfilm and Disney intend to intertwine the Star Wars offerings in much the same way as the Marvel films and series.
If/When the series debuts next December it will be in great company with other upcoming Star Wars-focused Disney+ series including Ahsoka and Rangers of the New Republic which are set in the same time period.
