EPCOT Transformation Construction & Confusing World Showcase Updates
Will the work EVER be done over at EPCOT in Disney World?! Eventually, but not anytime soon.
Seriously, construction has been happening for years in the park due to the big transformation it’s undergoing. There are new restaurants, rides, stores, lands, and more.
But, the fun is not done, because there is still more on the way! We’ve continued keeping up with the EPCOT construction progress so we can let you know what’s going on, and we have another update for you!
EPCOT Construction
World Celebration
CommuniCore Hall is still being worked on diligently in World Celebration! This big yellow building has been under construction for a while now.
There is a bunch of scaffolding up on the side with workers making progress on the building.
It appears that they’re adding some type of siding!
These giant supports have also been up in the area for a while now. These will probably be holding up some type of roof that will be over the Plaza part of CommuniCore.
They look pretty heavy-duty!
As you can see, there are other overhead structures already up in the background.
This will probably be the area where musical performances can happen during the EPCOT festivals!
Workers were up on these roofs when we went by the area.
Here’s a look at it from afar:
We can’t wait to see what this place looks like when it’s completed!
Also in this area are these new bronze structures. We’re not quite sure what they are, but they look like a cool design!
Maybe there will be seating at the bottom of these and the top will provide some shade.
Near the Imagination Pavilion, you can see that a lot of land has been cleared!
The ground looks to be leveled and there is equipment in the area.
There is also a large fence surrounding the area. Can you spot that Mickey poster for the workers on the door on the wall?
We’ll have to wait and see what happens next over here!
World Nature
We also looked at some more progress happening at Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana.
You can see some more awnings are up, and some lanterns are hanging.
World Showcase
In the World Showcase Lagoon, we have recently noticed equipment being moved into the center parts of the water. On Sunday, there was a giant crane-like thing in the middle of the lagoon installing equipment.
There was also this large red crane seen in the background between the Germany and China pavilions, behind Refreshment Outpost.
Today, we noticed even more activity! The crane seems to be doing even more.
There are also some more poles that have been installed in the lagoon.
There were workers on barges moving around the area.
What could this all be for?! We are guessing that it will be for the upcoming nighttime show for the 100th anniversary happening this fall.
Right now, EPCOT Forever is taking place in the lagoon at night, which uses some equipment in the lagoon, but not all of these large items are being added.
We’ll definitely be on the lookout for any other exciting additions!
Over in Canada, work continues on the Hotel du Canada. There is still a bunch of scaffolding up!
It seems like this is probably just a refurbishment of the building, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Right now, the back area of the pavilion up the stairs near the hotel is blocked off due to this construction.
Next door in the United Kingdom, construction has begun in the back of the pavilion. There are bushes blocking off the whole back courtyard area.
The construction closures also include the Toy Soldier, so the store isn’t open at this time.
We don’t know what’s happening over here, but we’ll be on the lookout for updates!
Stay tuned for more EPCOT Construction and Disney World updates!
