Top Ten Reasons to Visit Disneyland in 2024
Disneyland has announced its 2024 vacation packages.
You can start booking on Thursday, August 24th. So, you’re probably wondering whether you should book a trip there next year.
Here are ten reasons to visit Disneyland in 2024.
The Happiest Place on Earth
As you’re about to read, Disneyland Resort is undergoing plenty of changes in anticipation of a glorious 2024.Before we get to those, we should focus on what matters, though.
You work hard every day of your life. When was the last time you did something for yourself? Exactly.
Disneyland is literally The Happiest Place on Earth. Nobody EVER regrets spending the day here.
So, you really only need one reason to visit Disneyland. When you go, it’ll make you happy.
You can visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the pinnacle of Imagineering.
Then, you can switch parks and visit Avengers Campus, the place where Marvel stories come to life.
Once you’re done, you can eat and shop at one of the many locations within the parks or walk a few hundred steps to Downtown Disney instead.
At Disneyland Resort, everything is so close that you can accomplish so much in a single day.
When you vacation here, you can do everything you want and likely have time for multiple rides on your favorite attractions.
San Fransokyo Square
On August 31st, 2023, Disney will bring one of its most impressive worlds to life.
Fans of Big Hero 6 would never have thought this moment possible, but here we are.
The visionaries at Walt Disney Animation Studios combined Tokyo and San Francisco into one glorious metropolitan city.
Nobody could have ever expected that place, San Fransokyo, to become real…but here we are!
Disney has re-themed the former Paradise Pier section of Disney California Adventure into this futuristic realm, San Fransokyo Square.
You’ll want to visit not just for the sights and sounds but also the experiences.
Specifically, you can eat and drink at a Japanese beer garden. And that’s not even the best part!
Hugging Baymax
EPCOT fans remember a time not that line ago when the Character Spot hosted an exclusive character greeting with Baymax.
While this experience didn’t last as long as we would have liked, it was unforgettable due to its host.
Guests would interact with a life-sized (which is to say massive) Baymax.
The vibe felt like hugging a real-life Michelin Man. It looked like this:
I’m not as big on character greetings as my wife and friends, but I can honestly say Baymax was among my favorites ever.
At San Fransokyo Square, Baymax and the other members of the Big Hero 6 will greet guests at Hamada Bot Shop. And yes, Hiro will be there, too!
Friends, nothing will calm you more than hugging Baymax. He’s basically a helium balloon that graduated from med school.
The Improved Hotel
Speaking of Paradise Pier, it’s always stood as the twin of its accompanying resort, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.
Since Disney has re-themed Paradise Pier to San Fransokyo, it also needed to update the hotel.
What we’re getting isn’t a Big Hero 6 theme, though. Instead, Disney has chosen a different animation brand…and a more general one at that.
Yes, Disney’s Pixar Place Hotel will debut in its new form before the start of 2024.
So, you can vacation here during your next trip. As a reward, you’ll spend a few nights at the first hotel with a complete Pixar theme in North America.
A visit here will double as a pilgrimage for fans of all things Pixar. Even now, some of the decorations are on display at the hotel.
This resort is gonna be spectacular when Disney completes it this winter!
The New Hotel
Of course, you may prefer an entirely new hotel to one that’s simply gaining a facelift.
In that case, Disneyland Resort can satisfy your needs with a new property that sounds like an expansion to an existing one.
The Villas at Disneyland Hotel will open to the public on September 28th, 2023. Don’t let the name fool you, though!
Imagineers have built this place from the ground up as an entirely new structure. It happens to sit on the grounds of Disneyland Hotel, but that’s the only connection.
Otherwise, The Villas at Disneyland Hotel is brand new and offers state-of-the-art amenities.
When you stay here, you’ll enjoy the celebrated history of the Disneyland Hotel, but your hotel room will be brand new!
The Updated Treehouse
Soon, Adventureland Treehouse will open at Disneyland Park.
On that date, this part of Adventureland will come full circle from its earliest days.
In 1962, Disneyland added the Swiss Family Treehouse as a kind of theme park playground for kids.
Disney loosely based the attraction on its 1960 movie, Swiss Family Robinson.
More than 30 years later, this version of the treehouse lost its appeal for modern audiences of the 1990s.
Park officials rethemed the area to Tarzan’s Treehouse, largely due to a corporate tie-in with Disney’s 1999 film, Tarzan.
History repeated itself when Tarzan’s Treehouse diminished in popularity after 20 years of delighting guests.
Now, Disney has re-themed the area back to – you guessed it! – Swiss Family Robinson.
Obviously, modern Imagineering has vastly improved the amenities at this place, now called Adventureland Treehouse.
You can be among the first to explore its friendly confines during your 2024 Disneyland visit!
Rare Marvel Character Greetings
Here’s one of the underrated aspects of Avengers Campus.
Whenever a new Marvel story arrives in the theater or on Disney+, that character typically appears at Avengers Campus.
We’ve seen characters like Hela, Werewolf by Night, and even Zombie Captain America at Disney California Adventure.
In 2024, we can safely expect characters from Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, and maybe even Deadbolt 3 to appear.
Since these are limited-time engagements, you’ll grab some photos that none of your fellow Disney/Marvel fans will have!
Fantasmic! Returns
So, yeah. This happened.
In the spring of 2023, a Fantasmic! performance went awry at Disneyland.
The Maleficent mechanical dragon took its role too seriously and became a literal fire-breathing dragon for a time.
As often happens in fantasy tales, when a dragon inhales its own noxious gasses, something bad happens to it.
In the case of Fantasmic!, Disney decided that the dragon was a total loss.
Now, park officials are currently redesigning the show to make it safer and less likely for anything to burst into flame.
Fantasmic! will return in 2024, and it’ll sport a new look and slightly modified story, one lacking the dangers of fire-breathing dragons.
The Newest Ride and Themed Land
Early in 2023, Disneyland Resort added its newest attraction, and it’s a doozy.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is truly an attraction that Walt Disney would have loved.
After all, Uncle Walt famously loved to remind people that his entire empire started with a mouse named Mickey.
This ride celebrates the history of Mickey & Mouse and several of their cartoon friends.
In fact, you’re entering a cartoon when you board the Runaway Railway. It’s like a modernized version of your favorite Disney cartoons from childhood!
That’s only a part of what’s new in this area, though.
In 2022, Mickey’s Toontown closed down so that park officials could reinvent it for a new generation.
This themed land is vibrant and whimsical, a veritable playground for children of all ages. You’ll love it!
New Restaurants at Downtown Disney
You shouldn’t overlook the exquisite dining options at Disneyland Resort.
At Downtown Disney, the options will get even better in 2024, too!
Disney has confirmed the impending arrival of several new offerings like Din Tai Fung, home to legendary dumplings.
Michelin Star-winning chef Carlos Gaytan will also bring his expertise to Paseo and Céntrico.
Downtown Disney will also host the popular Porto’s Bakery and Café as well.
This place cooks world-famous cheese rolls and already has six locations in California. It’s a massive coup for Disney to add all of these locations!
So, when you visit Disneyland in 2024, you can nourish your soul AND treat your belly to some delicacies!
