More Details Revealed For Disneyland’s Adventureland Treehouse
Disneyland’s Adventureland Treehouse has been closed to the public for the last two years while Disney Imagineers work on re-imagining the 80-foot tall tree that has pride of place at the Happiest Place on Earth. Recently Walt Disney Imagineer Kim Irvine spoke to VIP guests at Disneyland and shared some additional insights about the refurbishment of this iconic Disneyland landmark.
As we previously mentioned here, the newest incarnation of the Treehouse draws its inspiration from the “Swiss Family Robinson.”
Disney previously shared that the re-themed attraction will serve as the home for this stranded family of five. The Adventureland Treehouse will come equipped with lots of makeshift inventions that help the family survive in the jungle. This includes a kitchen built by the father where meals cook themselves and water from a water wheel cools an ice box!
There’s also the mother’s music den complete with a player organ that plays “Swisskapolka” and the young sons’ nature room filled with mysterious flora and fauna as well as a few animal friends! Those braving the heights will also find the teenage daughter’s astronomer’s loft! All of the inventions found throughout the treehouse are carefully crafted using found objects!
The Disneyland Treehouse was Tarzan’s Treehouse (based on the Disney animated film of the same name) From 1999 until 2021. However, this isn’t the original theme. Prior to 1999, the Swiss Family Treehouse was the name of the Adventureland Treehouse dating back to 1962.
Tarzan’s Treehouse closed in 2021 and last year Disneyland announced that they would be reverting back to the Swiss Family Robinson theme for the attraction. The 1960 Disney film Swiss Family Robinson was based on the novel by Johann David Wyss written in 1812.
Disney also has plans in the works to tie in the new Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse with a series that is in the works for the Disney+ streaming network.
As of going to print, Disneyland hasn’t given us an exact opening date for the attraction. However, it is expected to reopen at some point this year.
