Why Disney World is Better for Grown-Ups
For those that aren’t in “the know”, Disney World is just a place for kids. But we know better.
More and more adult visitors, with or without children, claim Disney World is their favorite vacation destination. When it comes to the theming, luxurious accommodations, and delicious food – there is plenty for a grown-up Disney fan to fawn over.
As we dream of our next trip, we’ve put together a “best of” list, detailing why Disney World is really for the parents. If you’ve never been, take notes.
By the end of this article, you’ll be calling one of our Authorized Disney Vacation planning experts at Mickey Travels!
The Food is Better
Move over dinosaur chicken nuggets and tasteless hamburgers, the world of food blossoms into endless possibilities for non-picky adults.
Say goodbye to limited children’s menus. Disney World is now your culinary oyster.
As an adult traveler, we’d recommend you try as many new and interesting restaurants as possible. There are plenty of comfort food locales (like the 50s Prime Time Café), but there are many exotic choices too.
Try the charred Octopus from Tiffins Restaurant, a world-class steak from The California Grill, or an endless Oktoberfest-inspired buffet from the Biergarten Restaurant in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion.
Speaking of EPCOT, this park has several food-centric festivals throughout the year that feature snack-sized portions of fascinating dishes.
We have no doubt Mom and Dad are eating better.
The Drinks Are Better
Disney World is a hotspot for those who love a good cocktail or craft beer. Drinking around the world at EPCOT Showcase Pavilions has been a fan-favorite activity for decades.
(Those food festivals we mentioned also feature tasty adult beverages.)
For those who prefer to savor their drinks, Disney also has several elegant lounges. Trader Sam’s at the Polynesian Village Resort is a classic and the Enchanted Rose inside the Grand Floridian is a must-see for any Beauty and the Beast (2017) remake fan.
Bar hopping from hotel to hotel could easily take up an evening. Just remember, always enjoy responsibly and hydrate in between those libations.
Access to All Rides
Remember the days when you were just too short for the big roller coaster? Disney World also has height requirements in place, which means if you’re a kid you may not ride everything.
For grown-up visitors though, all of the greatest/most thrilling/most technologically advanced rides are at your disposal! Better yet, if you’re traveling in an adult-only party, you don’t have the burden of figuring out the rider-swap system.
Granted, you may not want to ride everything, but you likely won’t be turned away. This makes it much easier to plan park itineraries.
You Appreciate the Theming and Guest Service
We can’t deny that everyone gets caught up in the magical environments Disney creates. The difference between child and adult visitors though, is adults are more observant when it comes to noticing smaller or more nuanced details.
Grown-up visitors are just more likely to point out the on-theme lighting fixtures, ride theming, or appropriate background music. They also appreciate it when character performers are cast perfectly.
Additionally, most adult guests have worked in customer service at some point. Most people are impressed by how swiftly Cast Members can solve endless guest problems.
The difference between the “real world” and the Disney Bubble is glaring for most adults.
You’ll Remember the Trip
A lot of guests have strong opinions on whether or not to bring young children to Disney World. Many people ask, “What if they don’t remember it?”
Well, one of the greatest things about traveling as an adult is, you’ll remember your trip! You might need pictures or a diary to jog specific memories, but the experience won’t be a childhood blur.
Through your photos, videos, or social media posts – you can relive your magical trip again and again. And when you revisit, all you’ll need is a whiff of Main Street U.S.A. bakery cookies to be transported back.
That being said, no one can deny if the trip was worth the money.
You Can Spread the Magic!
What’s one of the greatest things about Disney? Sharing it with others!
As an adult returning to Disney World, you can share the magic with loved ones. Whether you’re introducing your child to Mickey or taking your spouse to your favorite Magic Kingdom restaurant, there is pixie dust to spread.
Enjoy planting the seed of Disney love in others and watching it grow. Plus, you’ll get more trip companions out of it.
We hope we’ve inspired you to book a trip to Florida as soon as possible! Whether you’re 5 or 95 years old, there is always a place in Disney World for you.
