Scrims Starting to Come Down Around Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom
Due to the construction of the TRON coaster at Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom, the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed.
With no reopening date announced as of yet, Disney World made the most of the closure to update aspects of the Main Street Station pictured above.
To mask the work, giant scrims were put into place to cover the entirety of the station.
Today, during our visit to the Magic Kingdom, we noticed portions of the scrims coming down.
As you can see this includes the ironwork on the far right and left of the station.
It’s nice to see part of the original façade again. To put this in perspective, above you can see guests exiting the Magic Kingdom from the archways.
What we aren’t sure of yet is whether this is the start of all of the scrims starting to come down.
This would mean the updates are complete at the train station.
Or, it could mean that work is still being done to the main building which will remain covered until further notice.
Regardless of the outcome, we do know that work should be finished at some point over the next three months.
Disney World’s official anniversary celebrations kick off on October 1st by which time we would expect one of Magic Kingdom’s most iconic structures to be construction-free.
We will continue to track the progress in the weeks ahead!
In case you missed it this morning, the 50th Anniversary emblem also went up on Cinderella Castle! You can check out our coverage here.
