Jungle Cruise Movie Update: Sunday, June 27
New Images, a cover shot for Total Film, an interview with Emily Blunt, and new photos highlight news from the jungle…
It’s “movie season,” my friends, and while everyone is excited for the long-awaited Black Widow film from Marvel, the oft-delayed Jungle Cruise is coming soon, too.
On July 30, the Rock and Emily Blunt will take the beloved Disney attraction from park to motion picture as the would-be Disney Studios blockbuster hits the big screen.
This past week, Total Film (through its online sister publication Games Radar) posted some amazing content from Jungle Cruise. And while we’re perfectly happy to enjoy summer as long as we can, there’s a lot of anticipation building for the end of July.
Check Out The Cover…
Firstly, check out this amazing cover for the latest edition of Total Film (which hit newsstands on June 25).
I will fully judge this “book” by its cover, and pick up this magazine when I am next at my local Barnes & Noble. The illustration, which of course includes Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) and Ms. Blunt, also includes the caption:
I wanted to make a movie like Pirates Of The Caribbean.”

Emily on Lily
Meanwhile, the official boilerplate for the movie promises “an adventure-filled, rollicking thrill-ride down the Amazon with wisecracking skipper Frank Wolf and intrepid researcher Dr. Lily Houghton.”
Of Houghton, Blunt told Total Film it was Lily’s take-charge attitude that drew her to the part.
“She’s really free-spirited and tenacious and funny and heedless,” said Blunt to Total Film. “She’s the worst person possible for the rather cynical, jaded Frank.”
Blunt also called her character “recklessly brave” and a character who “thinks she knows everything.”
But one thing Blunt hopes she knows is comedy, and the movie seems infused with a lot of laughs.
“We all find ourselves rather too funny on this film. We’ll see if everyone else does!” she added in the interview.
Photos from the Cruise
Finally, GamesRadar.com posted three new behind-the-scenes photos from Jungle Cruise.

Of the original Disneyland attraction, director Jaume Collet-Serra told Total Film, ““You could bring a baby, you could bring your grandparents, everybody could enjoy it together. It was so beloved. It was clear that we wanted to make a movie that was like that.”
This is great because my family will be in the seats (or on the couch) when Jungle Cruise debuts in late July.
