4.1 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes California and Closes Disneyland Attractions
Earlier today, a 4.1 magnitude earthquake hit the Corona area of Riverside County, California at 1:49 p.m.
The shaking was felt over a wide area stemming from Orange County and West Los Angeles and reaching all the way to Studio City.
The earthquake, which was initially reported to be magnitude 4.5 by the United States Geological Survey, originated 1.5 km below ground.
The quake struck at a depth of nearly one mile and was centered in the Santa Ana Mountains about 5.6 miles southwest of Corona. No damage was reported with the moderate sized tremors.
Earthquake Impacts Disneyland
Though the earthquake was reportedly felt in Orange County, the good news is no damage has been reported, though local fire departments were double-checking for any issues and problems.
Anaheim is towards the outer edge of the impacted area, but still felt the shaking.
It appears that Disneyland Resort took added safety precautions following the earthquake and shut down many of the attractions for a short time this afternoon.
As of 2:30pm (Pacific Standard Time) and according to the Disneyland app, the attractions in Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are reopening (after they each pass local inspections).
