Construction Update: New Projects Inch Forward in Disneyland
Excitement is brewing over Bob Iger’s Disneyland expansion comments — and about the future of the DisneylandForward project in general.
Of course, Disney fans will have to pack their patience as they wait to see these new plans realized.
Fortunately, new experiences are coming to Disneyland that are already well underway!
In case you missed it, we’ve recently seen concept art for Disneyland’s upcoming “Avatar Experience.” And of course, construction has already begun on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and the Haunted Mansion refurbishment at Disneyland Park.
Our MickeyBlog team stopped by Disneyland Park this week to get a closer look at the progress of these exciting new projects. Let’s check it out!
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
While Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom is barreling toward an earlier-than-anticipated opening this summer, Disneyland’s version of the attraction is inching along at a comparatively slower pace.
Still, change is afoot! Over the past month, crews have installed trees, shrubbery, and flowers that have the old salt mine looking lush, vibrant, and pleasingly green.
Meanwhile, scaffolding is still up throughout the attraction, with much of it wrapped in a beige tarp.
Disney has not yet announced an opening date (or even an opening season) for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Disneyland Park. However, the upcoming attraction is still scheduled to open to Disneyland guests by the end of 2024.
The Haunted Mansion
Disneyland’s other big project at the moment is the refurbishment of the park’s iconic Haunted Mansion.
The fan-favorite attraction closed its doors to guests back in January to allow Imagineers to refresh and reimagine the grounds. The refurbishment will also include an expanded outdoor queue and a new retail store.
Currently, the Haunted Mansion is enclosed by a green scrim. Construction vehicles and materials can be seen inside the walls, though most of the work is obscured from view.
At this point, visible progress is fairly minimal. However, the construction walls have been pushed back to allow for easier crowd flow.
Disney has not yet provided details on a timeline for reopening.
As always, stay tuned to MickeyBlog for all the latest Disneyland news!
