‘Andi Mack’ Actor Stoney Westmoreland Fired From Series After Arrest
Many of you will recognize Stoney Westmoreland as the actor who played Andi’s grandfather Henry “Ham” Mack on the hit Disney Channel show Andi Mack. The Associated Press is reporting today that Westmoreland has been fired from the show effective immediately. He was arrested in Salt Lake City (where the show is filmed) for attempting to have a sexual encounter with an acquaintance he met online that he believed to be just 13 years old.
Disney released a statement yesterday confirming that 48-year old Westmoreland had been dropped from the sitcom. A spokesperson said, “Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role and he will not be returning to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week.”
Salt Lake City police detective Greg Wilking told the Associated Press that Westmoreland was on his way to what he believed would be a sexual encounter when he was arrested on Friday. According to a piece in Variety, Westmoreland faces a count of enticing a minor and four counts of dealing in materials harmful to a minor. The actor was taken into custody Friday by members of the Salt Lake City police and the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force.
