Bob Iger Reveals There’s “More Opportunity” for Disneyland Expansion Than People Think
Recently, we shared some interesting news from The Walt Disney Company at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference. In one such tidbit, Bob Iger revealed there’s “more opportunity” for expansion at Disneyland than people think!
Iger’s comment is exciting and potentially surprising to some Disneyland fans. Recently, MickeyBlog reported on Cast Members’ reactions to the Avatar experience coming to Disneyland.
Although Disney has yet to release substantial details, fans have already speculated about its possible location within Disneyland Resort. Many have inferred that due to limited space, it may end up replacing a current experience.
But, according to Bob Iger, space may not be as limited as people suspect. Cinemablend recently released an article with Iger’s exact quote.
Disney’s CEO confidently stated, “certainly in Florida, we have a lot of property. We have a lot of opportunity outside the United States. We actually have more opportunity in California than people are aware.”
Downtown Disney District Reimagining
Disneyland fans are already privvy to several of Disney’s expansion plans. An exciting transformation is currently underway at the Downtown Disney District, with multiple buildings already removed to make room.
Recently, we shared that Catal Restaurant and its Uva Bar & Cafe will soon be closing to make way for Paseo and Centrico as part of its reimagining. Other upcoming additions include Porto’s Bakery & Café, Din Tai Fung, and an open lawn for Guests to hang out on.
Walt Disney famously said, “Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.” Fans have seen that narrative continue to play out at Disney Parks over the years.
Out with the old and in with the new! A while ago, Disney announced plans for DisneylandForward. The project would incorporate new experiences in both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.
Disney invites us to “imagine the possibilities,” teasing lands and attractions from Tokyo DisneySea and Shanghai Disneyland! Frozen, Tangled, Peter Pan and Zootopia are just some of the possible inspirations.
So, despite what people have assumed about Disneyland’s limited space, it looks like there are more possibilities for expansion than they think! New Disneyland rides, experiences, lands, and attractions…yes please; we can’t wait!
