Bob Iger Calls ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ “Disappointing”
The Walt Disney Company at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference aired today and the session revealed some interesting tidbits. Disney’s CEO Bob Iger gave fans insight into a particular Star Wars movie, sharing his thoughts on the film.
Solo: A Star Wars Story
During the Q&A, Iger referenced Solo, calling it “disappointing.” While Disney is still in the process of developing Star Wars films, the company is treading lightly when it comes to its next release.
According to Iger, Disney wants to ensure they make the right one. Recently, MickeyBlog shared that it’s been almost four years since a Star Wars feature film landed in theaters!

In contrast to the movies, Iger shares that the various Star Wars series on Disney+ have been extremely successful! Shows like The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Andor, and Obi-Wan Kenobi are just some of the recent offerings included in the franchise, with several drawing an impressive audience.
I must admit, as a personal Star Wars fan for many years, I’m not one to criticize when it comes to new films. I’m just excited to see new content featuring the galactic universe so many of us know and love.
That being said, I’d have to agree that compared to the shows, some of the recent movies do seem to come up short. Speaking of which, Iger also referenced an upcoming series that he has high hopes for.
The Future of Star Wars
He remarked that The Acolyte looks brilliant! One of our MickeyBloggers and Star Wars superfans shares some insight into Disney’s current conundrum.
He says, “Disney has itself to blame for firing the Clone High/Lego Movie/Into the Spider-Verse team of Lord/Miller on set, and replacing them with Ron Howard.” It looks like Disney is trying to turn a corner, by listening to its die-hard Star Wars fans.
A focus on quality over quantity will likely contribute to more successful and enjoyable films for an audience that sincerely cares about the Star Wars universe. Rather than turning a quick profit, Iger is making a good move, ensuring that the right project is chosen to represent this iconic franchise.
