Nobody has a better view of the devastating economic effect of the current pandemic on a community than the City of Anaheim Mayor Harry Sidhu.
And today, as he watched the political machinations pause on what is thought to be a move toward reopening of Disneyland and other California theme parks, the City of Anaheim tweeted:

“There is too much at stake,” posted Mayor Sidhu via the City of Anaheim account. “We need attainable guidelines that allow our theme parks and convention center to safely reopen soon to get people back to work and restore our economy.
“If pausing for the moment helps reach the goal, then that is best for now. But time is of the essence. Each day that goes by, the economic toll is rising for working families, small businesses, and our city.
“My invitation still stands for Gov. Newsom to visit Anaheim and see the impact firsthand.”

Around the same time as the mayor’s tweet, The OCR’s Brady MacDonald explained via www.ocregister.com:

Initial draft guidelines reviewed by theme park operators prompted Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood and their counterparts to ask Newsom’s administration to hold off on finalizing the reopening plan until modifications could be made to key protocols.
As a result, state officials tapped the brakes on plans to issue theme park reopening guidelines this week in order to seek more input from industry officials on proposed protocols.
“Given the size and operational complexities of these unique sectors, we are seeking additional input from health, workforce and business stakeholders to finalize this important framework — all leading with science and safety,“ California Health and Human Services Secretary Mark Ghaly said in a statement issued Friday.
