George Lucas’s 80th Birthday Party Was a Star-Studded Affair!
Hollywood visionary and Star Wars creator George Lucas celebrated his 80th birthday last weekend with a star-studded affair that included a few guests from a galaxy far, far away.
The festivities took place at Lucas’s Skywalker Ranch, which is located roughly 40 minutes north of San Francisco on the manmade Ewok Lake. The land is also home to Skywalker Sound, the hallowed 153,000 sq ft postproduction facility, and a 300-seat theater area.
According to the New York Post, Star Wars stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Samuel L. Jackson were present, as was The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau.
Other celebrity attendees included Tyler Perry, Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Robert De Niro, Glenn Close, Queen Latifah, Kerry Washington, Steve Martin, Chris Rock, H.E.R., Alicia Keys, Don Henley, Jon Batiste, Swizz Beatz, and Warwick Davis.
A Night to Remember
According to the Post, the party kicked off with a cocktail hour in the Star Wars gallery on the ranch, followed by dinner and dancing in the theater area.
Steve Martin emceed the event, while Batiste, Keys, Henley, and H.E.R. performed. Musicians also played Star Wars and Indiana Jones-themed music throughout the night.
Insiders reported that the party had gone off without a hitch and that conversation was flowing.
While Lucas has largely stayed out of the spotlight since selling Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012, it sounds like the Hollywood legend still knows how to throw a party.
