Dwayne Johnson Gives a Behind-the-Scenes Look at Recording For ‘Moana 2’
Perhaps the biggest news to come out of The Walt Disney Compay’s Q1 Earnings Call earlier this year was the exciting revelation that Moana 2 will sail into theaters this year.
The long-awaited sequel to 2016’s Moana will see the return of the titular heroine alongside Maui, Hei Hei, Pua, and the rest of the original film’s cast for another musical adventure.
“After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.”
While we still don’t know a ton about the upcoming film, Dwayne the Rock Johnson, who stars as Maui in the franchise, took to Instagram and shared a behind-the-scenes look at the recording for the upcoming movie.
Johnson Shares a Behind-the-Scenes Look
In a series of photos, Johnson can be seen recording his lines for the upcoming film at Walt Disney Animation Studios.
Johnson captioned the photos, “Bringing MAUI🪝 back to life for MOANA 2!”

“So much fun becoming MAUI again — a character that changed my life in many ways — including the character of MAUI being inspired by my late grandfather, High Chief Peter Maivia,” he continued.
“The Polynesian cultural significance of the role and our story has touched families around the world and has easily become one of my truest honors to bring to life and share.”
‘Moana 2 Will Set Sail This November
With Johnson and Auli’i Cravalho set to reprise their roles as Maui and Moana, respectively, expectations for Moana 2 will be high.
The film will hit theaters on November 27, 2024.
