Florida Man Sues Disney After Falling Off Magic Kingdom Attraction
A man is suing Disney after he repeatedly fell off the Haunted Mansion at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in April 2022.
According to the lawsuit, which was filed in Orange County, Billy Williams was attempting to board the Haunted Mansion ride with his wife, when a Disney employee hit the emergency stop button.
The quick stop allegedly caused the ride to jolt without warning and Williams fell off the ride and onto the ground.
“Severe and Permanent Injuries”
Williams alleges that the incident caused him “severe and permanent injuries” according to the lawsuit filed last month.
Additionally, Williams claims that Disney “failed to maintain the premises in a reasonable safe condition” and failed to correct or make him aware of the dangerous situation.
Williams is seeking $50,000 in damages from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Disney did not respond to comment.
How Dark Rides Load
If you have ridden a Disney Parks dark ride, you will be familiar with the loading process. Most attractions have a speed ramp that moves at a similar speed to the ride vehicles.
These attractions, and the Haunted Mansion in particular, also have Cast Members present who warn you about the speed ramp and tell you to watch your step.
The question in this case will revolve around the emergency stop, and what, if any warning, was given.
