South Carolina Gamecocks Coach Dawn Staley Celebrates NCAA Championship Win at Disney World
Anyone who’s ever watched the Superbowl has heard that iconic, celebratory phrase, “I’m going to Disney World!”
When the South Carolina Gamecocks topped off an undefeated 2024 season with an NCAA Championship win, Coach Dawn Staley had the chance to shout that famous line from the rooftops!

“I actually secretly wanted to win (the NCAA Championship) because I got to say it, and I got to say it in front of 18 million people, where I was going, ‘I’m going to Disney World!'” Staley said, “And now that I’m here I’m enjoying it.”

This weekend, the former women’s basketball player and three-time national championship winner celebrated her team’s success in The Most Magical Place on Earth.

Dawn Staley Celebrates Championship Win
During her celebratory visit, Dawn Staley experienced all the magic of Walt Disney World, beginning with a trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
There, she rode Kilimanjaro Safaris and encountered the park’s impressive array of wildlife, including Cora the baby elephant.

Afterward, Staley spent time at Magic Kingdom, where she celebrated in a championship tee shirt and a festive, Minnie-inspired bow.

Coach Stanley enjoyed a fun-filled day of classic Disney rides, character meets, and iconic Disney foods. Afterward, she joined her coaching staff for a celebratory parade down Main Street, U.S.A.

The colorful float featured fireworks, streamers, and upbeat music. Pluto, Chip and Dale, and Minnie Mouse joined the Gamecocks coaching staff in their best sporty gear.

“I will bring my team back,” she said of the unstoppable South Carolina Gamecocks.
Stanley is undeniably proud of her team, having previously told ESPN’s Holly Rowe, “They etched their names in the history books when this is the unlikeliest group to do it.”
