Construction Continues at Mission: SPACE in EPCOT
What, still?
It’s a new day in EPCOT and, as our MickeyBlog reporters blasted into World Discovery this morning, they noticed that work was still being done over at Mission: SPACE. Yes, still.
Come roving on over to Mars with us, and let’s check out what’s going on!
A Quick Mission Status Update
Before we look at what’s been happening today, let’s first take a quick look back over the recent refurbishment history here at the spacey attraction. A “blast through the past,” if you will.
Over the last few months, we’ve seen all kinds of refurbishment work being undertaken here at Mission: SPACE, including the temporary removal of various signs, upgrades to the floor, planet-polishing, and more.
Only a month ago, we were all celebrating that the Earth itself had returned back to the area’s solar system…but now it looks like the focus has switched to another planet in the pavilion!
Looking at these photos snapped by our MickeyBlog space cadets, we can see that large panels have been removed from the surface of the large red planet orbiting the outside of the attraction’s main building.
It’s Mars — and it looks like it’s being invaded!
Beneath the removed panels we can see very non-atmospheric sections of tarp covering the ball’s interior. For guests standing looking at the planet from the walkway up to the neighboring Space 220 Restaurant, even more of these missing panels can be seen.
At the moment, it’s just the very top of the planet which seems to be under refurbishment, but we’ll stay tuned to see if the work spreads across the rest of the orb, too.
It feels like we’ve been following along with Mission: SPACE construction for an eternity here at MickeyBlog, and we can’t wait to see work in the area finally complete soon!
