With the genocide at Genosha driving X-Men ’97’s narrative forward and Bastion revealed as the primary antagonist, the X-Men find themselves at a crossroads. Will they be able to live up to Charles Xavier’s lofty ideals, or has the team experienced too much pain?
The trailer for the finale begins with a voiceover from Professor X, who says, “You were my first students. My family. I wanted you to be free.”

Other revelations from the trailer include Storm’s return (“Let us do what we do, believe in each other,” she says), the Xavier institute in flames, and perhaps most humorously, Cable suiting up for battle.
A Shot at the Live-Action X-Men
Seeing the X-Men’s iconic 90s uniforms, Cable asks whether he is heading for war or the circus.

“What would you prefer? Black leather?” Cyclops retorts in a fun jab at the original 2000 X-Men film.
Longtime fans will remember the movie’s scene where Wolverine questions the leather costumes the team wore in the live-action films. At the time, the live-action X-Men seemed to poke fun at the animated series when Cyclops retorted, “What would prefer, yellow spandex?”
Oh, how the tables have turned.
X-Men ’97 Will Return
While season 1 of X-Men ’97 only has three weeks left, season 2 is reportedly completed. Fans, then, should not have to wait too long to see the hit show return.
Additionally, the series has already been renewed for a third season. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, check it out now!
