Disney Denies Knowing About Mississippi Woman Testing Positive For COVID-19 After Disney Cruise From New Orleans
Since the time that we reported the story, the woman (whose identity is still being withheld) reported to the Sun Herald that she has spoken at length to Disney officials about her diagnosis. She advised that Disney officials called her at home regarding her diagnosis after one of her children called the cruise line to report on her condition.
However, an official at Disney Cruise Line told the paper that no Health Department official has informed them that one of their passengers tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.
After the Sun Herald published the story last week the report that several passengers aboard the same sailing have reached out to find out why they have not been informed by Disney of the passenger’s diagnosis.
The paper posed the question to Cynthia Martinez, director of communications and public relations for Disney Cruise Line. She responded, “We have not been notified by public health officials of any COVID-19 cases related to our ships.”
The Sun Herald reached out again to clarify if the Cruise Line had spoken to the South Mississippi patient or simply was saying it had not heard of the diagnosis from officials with the Health Department or Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
As of going to print, the Hancock County woman and her daughter remain in self-quarantine.
