‘Andor’ Creator Tony Gilroy Calls the Series the “Most Important Thing I Have Done”
While we still don’t have a release date for Andor Season 2 yet, series creator Tony Gilroy has revealed that the team is currently “finishing” the second and final season.
Reflecting back on his time in Star Wars at the 76th Writers Guild of America Awards (where Gilroy recieved the Ian McLellan Hunter Award for Career Achievement), the showrunner called the upcoming season of Andor the most important thing he has ever done.
“I’ve been on Andor for five years now. We’re finishing the second half,” Gilroy shared. “I’ve had a lot of fun over the years, but I don’t know whether I’ve ever done anything as important as these 24 hours of storytelling we’re doing now. I don’t know if it’s just ‘cause it’s a thing I’m on, but I don’t think so. I’ve never had a chance to work this big before.”
When Will We Finally See ‘Andor’ Season 2?
Season 1 of Andor was released in 2022 to rave reviews. Lauded for its storytelling, pacing and gritty tone, the series tells the story of Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), as he transforms from drifter to rebel in the events leading up to Rouge One.
While Andor Season 2 was originally set to premiere this year, the show was subsequently removed from Disney+’s release schedule. Earlier this year, star Stellan Skarsgard teased that the series could debut “towards the of the year or early next.”
As the wait continues, the anticipation for Andor’s return continues to grow. Hopefully, we get a release date soon.
