ESPN Will Launch It’s Direct-To-Consumer App in the Fall of 2025
Despite yesterday’s announcement that Disney, Fox, and Warner Brothers were teaming up to create a new sports-centric streaming service, Disney is still moving forward with its plan to create a direct-to-consumer version of ESPN.
In an interview with CNBC’s Julia Boorison today, Iger announced that the company will launch the new ESPN service in the fall of 2025.

The new service will include all of ESPN’s programming and feature integration with ESPN’s fantasy platforms and ESPN Bet.
When announcing the streaming service, Iger called it a “sports lovers’ delight.”

At this time, it is unknown what the price point will be for the direct-to-consumer ESPN.
The Era of Sports Streaming is Here
As Disney continues to evaluate the best way to transform ESPN into a direct-to-consumer network, the company is reportedly exploring finding strategic partners. Last month, it was reported that the NFL and Disney were nearing a deal that would give the league equity in the Worldwide Leader in Sports.
Prior to yesterday’s announcement, the ESPN app would be the first time non-cable customers could access the flagship sports network. Now, that honor will fall to the new, yet unnamed, streaming service.

In addition to announcing the launch of the streaming service, Iger also revealed that celebrated college coach Nick Saban will join ESPN as a commentator.
Saban will work primarily as an analyst on the set of College Gameday but also contribute to the network’s draft coverage.
