6 Things That Happened Last Week in Disney World
When it comes to Disney, there is no shortage of news on any given day…and in case you missed it, here is a rundown of what happened last week at Disney World!

Magic Kingdom
From tram testing, meet and greet updates, Annual Passholder news, and a big change to runDisney — last week had its fair share of big happenings despite it being right after a long holiday weekend.
Note that Destination D23 took place over the weekend with a whole lot of other huge news, which you can read more about here.
Disney Trams Testing Spotted
Recently, Disney announced that parking lot trams would be returning to the remaining two parks — EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The trams are currently scheduled to return sometime in September.
Not long ago, we saw tram testing at Hollywood Studios, and earlier last week, we saw test runs of the system in full force over at EPCOT. Disney has not yet shared the official date for the return of trams, so stay tuned for more updates.

Meet-and-Greet Update
Over in Magic Kingdom, Fairytale Garden is being reimagined into the Casa Madrigal for a new meet-and-greet with Mirabel from Disney’s Encanto. Just behind construction barriers, you can see some of the new beautiful floral details that were recently added to the area.
These garlands have been draped along both walls and archways throughout the area. This reimagined space was previously used for a meet-and-greet with Merida, and it’s expected to reopen with its new Encanto theme on September 15th.

Changes to runDisney
Each year runDisney hosts some of the most popular events in Disney, like the 2023 Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend. Volunteers play a big role in these events and this year runDisney has removed a big perk.

Recently, runDisney announced the removal of complimentary park tickets for volunteers. Prior to this year, volunteers received complimentary park tickets as a thank-you for their efforts during the event. They have not shared why this perk has been removed, but volunteers might want to keep this in mind when registering.

New Annual Passholder Magnet
Having an Annual Pass comes with a lot of perks but one of the most fun perks, in my opinion, are the Annual Passholder magnets.
These magnets are exclusive to Annual Passholders and in the past have brought a lot of excitement — and now there is something new on the horizon.

Last week, Disney teased a countdown for a new Annual Passholder magnet on the My Disney Experience app. Disney has not yet released any information about who will be featured on the magnet or when the magnet will be available to Annual Passholders, but you might have fun guessing!
