9 Things to Love About Mickey’s ToonTown at Disneyland Resort
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that Sunday marked the Grand ReOpening of Mickey’s ToonTown at Disneyland. The details Imagineers have woven into ToonTown 2.0 are absolutely fantastic. With that in mind, we thought we’d share a look at nine of our favorite Disney details in Mickey’s ToonTown.
Green Spaces Galore
One of my favorite things about the new-and-improved Mickey’s Toontown is the abundance of green spaces perfect for families looking to kick back, relax and maybe even enjoy a picnic. You’ll find three central green spaces. CenTOONial Park greets guests as they enter ToonTown. Imagineers wanted this space to be a location where guests could simply sit and be together!
“We wanted to make sure that for big kids, for adults, this land is designed for them as well,” Shaver-Moskowitz says. “We know a day at Disneyland can be when guests try to pack a lot in, running from one attraction to another and one reservation to the next. We wanted Mickey’s Toontown to not only be exciting, but also decompressing and relaxing and welcoming.”

You’ll also find a lovely stretch of greenery outside of the homes of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.

The third green space is located in the far corner of ToonTown near Chip ‘n’ Dales GADGETcoaster. Listen closely and you may even hear tunes from Mike Rubino. He has created a spa-like, quiet soundscape making it the perfect place to “decompress” from the busy-ness of the theme parks.
The plants surrounding these green spaces have also been carefully curated. Flowers and trees were selected that possess a “ToonTown-y” feel. This includes blossoming plants in vibrant colors, ones that grow strange leaves and more!
A Dreaming Tree
Above is a look at the Dreaming Tree at Mickey’s Toontown. The tree was inspired by Walt Disney’s Dreaming Tree in Marceline Missouri. You’ll find the dreaming tree at the center of CenTOONial Park. Highlights of the dreaming tree includes larger-than-life roots for children to interact. There’s even a wheelchair accessible root path.

CenTOONial Park Fountain
Take a moment to check out the interactive fountain at CenTOONial Park. It offers gorgeous water features and serves as an interactive play array where kids of all ages can cool off! Water tables provide guests with a unique sensory experience.
In the evening, the fountain also glows with a gentle light show. The fountain also plays the lyric version of “My Happy Place” which is part of ToonTown’s new musical score.
Donald and Goofy-themed Play Areas
Donald Ducks Pond is another phenomenal place to cool off! Here you’ll find larger-than life water spinning water lilies, balance beams and rocking toys. Donald’s boat is flooded from the inside. You’ll want to look into the boat’s porthole windows to catch a bubbly scene featuring Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby.

Next up is Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard complete with whimsical sound garden. Here kids can discover new ways to make wacky noises and explore the elevated clubhouse.
Goofy’s play yard is a treasure trove of interactive games, a lookout point and roller slides. There’s also a place for tiny-tots that feature a floor made of soft, spongy material where they can explore and play.

You can even head inside Goofy’s house where you can help Goofy make delicious confections with his bizarre and irresistibly fun candy-making machine.
Trackless Toy Train
While at ToonTown, you’ll want to head to EngineEar Souvenirs, a shop located next to Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Here you’ll find the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway Remote Control Trackless Train. The toy uses trackless technology whith the locomotive and cars being detached from one another. The cars follow the locomotive using a sensor. Watch as the train chugs along on any flat surface. The set also comes with six poseable characters with 13 unique character sayings.

It’s Pete!
He’s a character we love to hate, but we’re pretty excited that for the first time ever Pete will be at Disneyland in ToonTown to meet with guests. Have your cameras and autograph books at the ready.
Pete is just one of many characters you may encounter roaming around ToonTown. Others to be on the lookout for includes: Minnie, Donald, Daisy Duck, Pluto, Clarabelle, and Goofy. You can also expect to see Mickey on the scene in a brand new outfit!
Build Your Own Picnic Baskets
This may be one of my favorite bits of souvenir merch EVER! The Perfect Picnic Basket comes with your choice a three snack items. You can also pair it with an add on picnic blanket and head to the park!
Also, in keeping with the picnic-theme, you’ll find that much of the food at ToonTown is handheld. This includes options at Cafe Daisy which serves up delicious pizza flopovers, mini corn dogs and more!

Runaway Railway Brings the Whimsy
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway may have debuted back in January 27 but now that ToonTown has reopened, it is the heart and soul of this new land! It is the very first ride-through attraction at Disneyland starring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. Best of all, there’s no age/heigh restrictions meaning that the whole family can enjoy!

But that’s not all, kids are sure to love Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster. The track of this family-friendly coaster hasn’t been changed but now features beloved Disney characters including Chip, Dale and Gadget!

Beloved Attractions Return
The oldies but goodies are also still available at ToonTown. Guests can once again crash their taxis on Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin. In addition, the whimsical abodes of Mickey and Minnie are just as they were, albeit with a fresh coat of paint.

When in ToonTown, also pay attention to the shifting color palette. The colors in ToonTown have been softened to make the town more welcoming.
