What Can Parkgoers Expect When Toontown Reopens?
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that Mickey’s Toontown is slated to reopen at Disneyland resort this weekend!
The updated Toontown will serve as the perfect backdrop for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and will also be home to new shops, eateries and more!
As a recent write-up in the OC Register explains. The re-imagined Toontown will be reopening this Sunday, March 19, 2023. The Toontown portion of the park has been around for three decades and was in part inspired by “Who Framed Roger Rabbit.” The land officially closed for reburbishment in March of 2022.

El CapiTOON Theater!
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
The focal point of ToonTown is obviously the El Capitoon Theatre. This is the home of Disneyland’s version of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway which is similar to the ride at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Though the Runaway Railway concept at Walt Disney World and Disneyland are similar, as the OC Register points out, the theater of the Disneyland version has its own fun-filled backstory that guests will have a chance to experience while queuing for the ride.
Minnie has teamed up with the Toontown “Hysterical” Society to create a Mickey through the decades type exhibit. Throughout the queue you’ll find props and costumes from Toon world. Some fun examples that we’ve previously shared with you includes Mickey’s costume from “The Sorcerers Apprentice,” the famous beanstalk from “Mickey and the Beanstalk” and more!
Engine Ear Souvenirs
While at Toontown, you’ll want to pop over to Engine Ear Souvenirs. This gift shop has already soft opened and will be the place to go for new Runaway Railway and Mickey’s Toontown merch.

Cafe Daisy
A new eatery will be opening in the form of Café Daisy. This will take over the former home of Pluto’s Dog House, Daisy’s Diner and Clarabelle’s ice cream. As we previously shared with you, the menu at Café Daisy will be brimming with theme parks classics. You’ll find everything from corn dogs to pizza. Outdoor dining will be available for those looking to sit and enjoy a meal amongst the recently updated surroundings.

Toontown will now be home to a new fountain and interactive water play area. Kids of all ages are sure to delight in elements of the fountain including clamshells, flower blossoms and even cartoon fish coming to life with spurts of water. Mickey and Minnie also take center stage at the top of the fountain.

The Dreaming Tree
Another important Toontown sight to take in is this lush tree/play area. Walt Disney himself was the inspiration for the Toontown addition. According to the piece in the OC Register, Walt used to dream under a tree similar to this in Marceline, Missouri.
