Disney Genie Added to the My Disney Experience App
Good morning Disney friends! Today is a momentous occasion for Walt Disney World as it officially marks the launch of the Resort’s new Disney Genie service.
If you’ve been following along with us, you’ll know that Genie is adding brand new functionality to the already existing My Disney Experience app including daily tips, wait times and more that guests can tap into during your theme park visit.
With that, Disney has given an overhaul to the My Disney Experience app and these changes were launched in the wee hours of the morning! We are so excited to give you a first look. As you can see from these screen shots of My Disney Experience app, new graphics have been incorporated in celebration of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary.
There’s also an outline of the new features guests can expect on the app. This includes:
- A digital Tip Board- Guests can check on wait times for standby attractions, an opportunity to join virtual queues for select attractions, mobile food and beverage ordering, restaurant check-in and more!
- Personalized digital itineraries- Keep all your plans in one place with Disney Genie! This personalized digital itinerary creator regularly updates as your plans changed and offers forecasted wait times and suggestions. You’ll now find this on My Disney Experience under the “My Day” tab.
- Disney Genie+- Using the app, guests are now able to purchase entrance to select attractions individually or as part of a Disney Genie+ service. This includes the ability to book Lightning Lane entrance selections one at a time throughout the day. Disney PhotoPass Lenses and Audio Tales are also included in this service.
We are excited to see some of these exciting changes already appearing on the app. My Disney Experience with the addition of Disney Genie now recommends activities and will prompt you to start using the Disney Genie functionality.
As you can see, Disney Genie now has it’s own menu item called “My Disney Genie Day” on the main screen.
Above you can take a first look at the wait time function. It not only gives you times for the standby line but also prompts you to book Genie+ Lightning Lane for front of the line access to attractions.
If you click on the “I’m Ready” tab of the Disney Genie sign-up section it takes you to the screen below.
It outlines the perks of joining the service and gives you the option of selecting the service and/or checking out the new Tip Board.
Above you can get a first look at the date selection process for Disney Genie+.
Once you’ve selected your theme park of choice it gives you a list of attractions that are included as part of the Disney Genie+ service!
It also highlights the premium attractions that must be paid for separately. Notice the difference between Pirates of the Caribbean, which has Lightning Lane included as part of Genie+ versus Seven Dwarfs Mine Train which is a premium attraction that must be paid for separately.
Above is a look at the newly enhanced dining reservation tabs.
My Disney Experience/Disney Genie now clearly outlines what type of dining experiences a particular restaurant falls into. You can see “Casual Dining” outlined above. There is also a mobile ordering icon for those eateries that offer mobile ordering via the My Disney Experience app.
We love the way that PhotoPass is integrated in to the app with suggestions on how to capture some special photos while at the park. Closures and refurbishments are also listed.
When it comes to personalized itineraries, Disney gives you suggestions on ways to spend your day. There’s something for everyone from Princess fans to Star Wars-lovers.
This also extends to dining opportunities where you can select what type of dining experience you’re interested in whether its fine dining or quick casual bite.
Disney Genie also helps you find your perfect ride or attraction. Looking for a way to cool off? How about a Water Ride. Want to experience new offerings? Go to the what’s new tab!
This makes it easier than ever to find the specific experiences you want to incorporate into your itineraries without lots of scrolling!
All of your interests will go into Disney’s customized itinerary allowing you to focus on the things that interest you the most!
Disney Genie also allows you to keep tabs on both height requirements (perfect for those traveling with little ones) as well as accessibility access.
Below you can see the prompt to sign up for Disney World’s new paid front-of-the-line access service – Disney Genie+. There is a charge of $15 per person per day to use this service.
The landing page outlines some of the extra perks that also come with the $15 price tag including Disney PhotoPass Lenses and Audio Tales.
As you can see below, our MickeyBloggers are heading to the parks to try out Disney Genie+.. The cost for one-day access for two people is $30.00.
Below is a look at the page that allows you to make your individual selections. There is a “Book Experience” tab under each individual ride. Remember you can only pick one ride at a time!
We hope you’ll continue to follow along with us throughout the day where we’ll have the latest Disney+ news and updates coming your way.
Readers are also encouraged to check back regularly as we’ll be visiting the parks every week throughout Disney World’s 18 month-long 50th Anniversary celebration.
