New Disneyland Model Installed In Walt Disney Presents
When it is not promoting the newest Disney live-action remake, Walt Disney Presents is one of my favorite attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The walk-through museum originally opened in 2001 as Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream. As Disney was celebrating Walt’s 100th birthday, the company wanted to create an attraction that both paid homage to, and told the story of, its founder.
Walt Disney Presents is a Disney history fan’s paradise. The museum has everything, from early artifacts from Walt Disney Studios to theme park props and models that show how different Disney Parks developed.
A New Exhibit!
Walt Disney Presents is the kind of attraction that should be in every Disney Park. That is why I am thrilled to report that Disney has added a new Disneyland model to the attraction’s museum that showcases how the park looked on opening day- July 17, 1955.
The model was originally built in 2005 to commemorate the park’s 50th anniversary.
The exhibit starts by showing concept art for Walt’s vision of a Disney theme park on the lot across from Disney Studios in Burbank.
As the plans for Disneyland expanded, Walt looked to Anaheim and its orange groves to place the new park.
Still, many elements of Walt’s early vision including a steamboat, western town, and train circling the park would come to fruition in Disneyland.
All in the Details
The model itself is beautiful, and really gives you an appreciation for how much it was packed into Disneyland, even in 1955!

This model is gorgeous!
I love the miniatures of the classic Fantasyland attractions like Dumbo and the Mad Tea Party.
The model also gives you a real appreciation for how big attractions like the Autopa and Jungle Cruise are.

Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise
And look at all that barren land in Frontierland!!
If you are a fan of Disneyland history you could likely spend hours gazing at the model, taking in all the intricate details.
Walt’s Vision For Disneyland
The bottom of the exhibit features photographs of each of Disneyland’s lands, along with Walt Disney’s dedication for each individual locale.
Finally, if you look at the bottom left corner of the model, you can see a depiction of the Disneyland Hotel.
Although not originally built by the company, the hotel has become synonymous with Disneyland.
So, next time you visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios, take some time and visit Walt Disney Presents. I guarantee you will see something you never noticed before!
