The Gators Are BACK at This Disney World Hotel (& More Important Construction Updates!)
There’s almost always some kind of construction happening in Disney World. Right now, major projects include things like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and CommuniCore Hall & Plaza.
But, there are also smaller projects that don’t get as much attention but are still important — especially if they affect your hotel stay! So, we have some important updates on what’s going on at Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter.
Gators Return to Port Orleans French Quarter
Two of the jazz band alligators have returned to French Quarter! We noticed them missing last year.
They’re carrying their instruments again and look like they may have gotten a fresh coat of paint!
We also noticed that the gator playing the banjo in the front used to be turned toward the drummer, but now, he’s turned the other way.
We’re happy to have the band back together!
More French Quarter Construction Updates
There is some construction happening at French Quarter right now. The Doubloon Lagoon pool has been closed for maintenance since January, but it should be opening back up this month.
We noticed that the pool is now half open! The kids splash pad area and the area of the pool with the slide is is still closed.
We’re sure it’ll be fully open sometime later this month.
Mardi Grogs pool bar has been closed for refurbishment since February and is scheduled to open back up this month.
It looks like it’s been completely gutted inside!
Here’s a look from the other side:
They seem to be doing some serious work!
We saw walls blocking off the area.
The signs on the outside have some cute themed quotes on them.
There is a temporary bar located right across from the boat launch dock along the river with some of the same menu.
Here’s a closer look:
There are also some signs that will help guide you toward the temporary bar. Here’s one…
…and here’s another.
We’ll be sure to let you know when the pool and pool bar open back up!
Stay tuned for more Disney World news and updates!
