The 1982 Background Music Has Once Again Returned to The Land!
In what can only be described as an emotional roller coaster, the original 1982 background music loop has once again been turned on at The Land Pavilion in EPCOT.
In case you haven’t been following along, the saga began last week when the 1982 background music returned to The Land for the first time since 2005.
The pavilion’s original background music loop features an eclectic mix of songs from the Great Amerian Songbook (“You Are My Sunshine,” “Moon River,” “It’s Only a Paper Moon”), show tunes (“Sunrise, Sunset”), and even more modern (at the time) popular hits like “Sunshine on My Shoulders.”
Predominantly composed of songs that had some variation of “sun” or “moon” in the title, the original background music loop was a staple of the pavilion for the first 23 years of its existence.
In 2005, with the addition of Soarin’ and the overhaul of the pavilion, The Land got a new background music loop. That version of the loop would last until 2015.
The Loop Was Turned Off Yesterday
While EPCOT Center fans were understandably thrilled that The Land was playing its original loop again, the joy was short-lived.
Yesterday, when visiting The Land, we learned that the music had been completely shut off.
The Background Music Has Returned (Again)
Today, when visiting the park, however, we learned that music had returned to The Land. Not only that, but the speakers outside the pavilion are once again playing the pavilion’s original loop!
It still remains unclear if the reversion to the original background music is permanent. The pavilion may go back to playing the uniform soundtrack that permeates World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery.
Either way, hope springs eternal. For today at least, fans can celebrate the return of a piece of EPCOT history!
