Marvel Head of Streaming Confirms that ‘Ironheart’ Is Still in Production
When Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that the company had “quietly” canceled several productions that the studio did not think were working, all eyes quickly turned to Marvel.
Following a disappointing 2023, both Iger and Marvel have been clear that the studio would be slowing down its output in order to focus on quality over quantity. The combination of these two realities led many to assume that some previously announced Marvel projects would never see the light of day.
Perhaps the most obvious candidate for a premature cancellation was Ironheart.
Marvel’s ‘Ironheart’
Originally announced in 2020, the streaming series is set to follow the adventures of Riri Williams/Ironheart, the young hero who made her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as played by Dominique Thorne.
Despite Thorne’s insistence last year that Ironheart had finished filming, updates on the project had been few and far between. This led many to infer that perhaps the project had been scrapped.
Then, last week, Ironheart appeared on the Disney+ website, lending credence to the idea that the project was still a go.
Brad Winderbaum Confirms That ‘Ironheart’ Is Still Happening
In a recent interview with Agents of Fandom, Marvel Studios Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, confirmed that Ironheart is still happening.
“Yeah, absolutely. We’re editing both of those shows as we speak. They’re spectacular, they’re amazing, and they’re different…We’re able to explore corners of the universe that are really exciting. Riri Williams is one of them.”
At this time, we do not have a release window for Ironheart yet. Still, fans can take heart (get it) that the series has not been shelved.
