During the pandemic, Spider-Man: No Way Home achieved some stunning box office feats.
The 2021 release earned $1.92 billion in the global box office at a time when people were afraid to leave their homes.
That’s one of the most astonishing box office triumphs ever, but it wasn’t a surprise to data analysts.
Long before the film debuted in theaters, No Way Home‘s trailer demonstrated a unique level of fan excitement.
People watched the No Way Home trailer 355.5 million times during its first 24 hours.
Since then, Hollywood has used this metric as the measuring stick for the potential appeal of other titles.
Frankly, nothing else had come close…until Super Bowl Sunday.
Disney and Marvel strategically waited until Sunday evening to launch the first trailer for its most important 2024 release, Deadpool 3.
In a matter of moments, Marvel revealed the official title of the film as Deadpool & Wolverine.
More importantly, this trailer proved to be catnip for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Fans watched the video so much that Deadpool & Wolverine broke Spider-Man’s record.
According to Variety and Disney’s own press release, Deadpool 3 claimed 365 million viewings in 24 hours.
We should acknowledge that the popularity of this year’s Super Bowl played a factor, as it was the most-watched televised event since the Moon Landing.
Still, Disney desperately needs a hit with Deadpool 3. The trailer’s Super Bowl showing indicates that Disney will get its wish.
The MCU is back, baby! And it’s all thanks to Marvel Jesus!
