VIDEO: The TVA Recruits Wade Wilson To Save the Multiverse in First ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Trailer
The Merc with the Mouth is officially back, and by the look of things, he is about to drastically change the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
During last night’s Super Bowl, Marvel Studios released the first full trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, and anticipation for the film is through the roof.
The new clip begins with a toupeed Wade Wilson being kidnapped from his birthday party by the TVA. Loki fans will surely recognize the pruning sticks and Timedoors that were staples of the Disney+ series.
Will Deadpool Save the MCU?
After being whisked away to TVA headquarters (and soiling himself), Deadpool is told that he has a chance to be a “hero among heroes.”
Hearing this, Deadpool quickly promises that “your little cinematic universe is about to change forever.” He then parodies Tony Stark’s famous “I am Iron Man” quote and proclaims himself “Marvel Jesus.”
After a series of action scenes, Deadpool finds himself prostrate on the ground. Suddenly, the shadow of Wolverine begins to loom over him.
“Don’t just stand there you ape, give me a hand,” Wilson quips.
After Wolverine protracts his claws, however, Deadpool quickly says, “Never mind.”
Disney’s First Taste of Deadpool
While little has been previously known about the plot of Deadpool 3, speculation has run rampant that the film would usher in the events of Avengers: Secret Wars and tie together the Marvel multiverse in a new way.
The first trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine clearly supports this premise. The TVA’s involvement and Deadpool’s claims indicate that a shakeup is on the horizon.
Deadpool 3 will not only feature the long-awaited return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine but also be the first Deadpool film produced by Disney’s Marvel Studios.
By the look of the first trailer, the Merc with the Mouth isn’t pulling any punches now that he is owned by Disney.
