PHOTOS: Construction Continues on Mystery Structure at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
While we await news on the highly-anticipated DinoLand USA transformation at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, smaller changes are happening right under our noses!
For the past several months, we’ve followed the progress of this new mystery structure located in the Africa section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Let’s check out what’s new!
Construction Continues on Mystery Structure
Back in November, we reported noticeable progress on the structure, including a visible roof and dormers.
This week, MickeyBlog reporters spotted even more progress behind the scrim.
Thatching has been added to the roof, lending the building a beautiful, natural vibe. This organic look is characteristic of the Africa section of the park and will help the new structure to blend in seamlessly.
Meanwhile, scrim remains along the building, extending down the path to Harambe Market. Black brackets have been installed, holding long beams of plywood.
No announcement has been made regarding the scope of the project or the intended use of the building. As a result, the end result remains a mystery. Our bets are on additional (shaded!) seating, or perhaps a new dining area.
Whatever the case, we’re excited to see what becomes of this mysterious construction!
Bigger Changes Afoot in Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Africa’s new mystery structure might seem like a small development, but big changes are coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
At D23 this past September, Disney announced plans to reimagine DinoLand U.S.A. into a brand-new land described as a “tropical Americas” experience.
Disney shared exciting new concept art, revealing that the new section may feature theming and attractions based around Disney favorites like Indiana Jones and Encanto.
Sadly, there’s since been little news regarding the upcoming transformation, but we look forward to learning more!
