October 21st was a slower day in Disney history, but it still featured a political rally at Disneyland, the dedication at EPCOT Center, and the loss of a Disney Legend. So, let’s get going!

Fantasia Ends Its Box Office Run (1941)
On this day in 1941, Fantasia ended its run with two final showings at the Broadway Theater in New York City.
Disney’s next feature film, Dumbo, will premiere 2 days later.
Fathers Are People Released (1951)
On this day in 1951, the Goofy cartoon Fathers Are People was released.

In the cartoon, Goofy learns that fatherhood comes with responsibility.
Pooh For President Even Held (1972)
On this day in 1972, the first day of the Winnie the Pooh for President event was held at Disneyland.
The day began with a parade and rally in front of it’s small world. Later in the day, three times a day, the Pooh Revue was presented on the Tomorrowland stage, and free showings of Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day were held at the Fantasyland Theater.
EPCOT Center’s Mexico Pavilion Dedicated (1982)
On this day in 1982, the Mexico pavilion was dedicated at EPCOT Center.

The pavilion’s attraction El Rio del Tiempo was also formally dedicated.
Back to Hannibal: The Return of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn Airs (1990)
On this day in 1990, the Disney Channel Premiere film Back to Hannibal: The Return of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn aired.

The film starred Raphael Sbarge as Tom Sawyer, Mitchell Anderson as Huck Finn, and Ned Beatty as Judge Thatcher.
Disney Railroad Celebration Takes Place (2003)
On this day in 2003, a two-day celebration of Disney’s railroad legacy began at Walt Disney World.

On hand for the festivities were members of the Carrollwood Pacific Historical Society and the Broggie family. At this time, the Roger E. Broggie Steam Engine No. 3 was rededicated.
George of the Jungle 2 Released (2004)
On this day in 2004, George of the Jungle 2 was released direct-to-video.

The sequel to 1997’s George of the Jungle starred Christopher Showerman as George.
Marge Champion Passes Away at 101 (2020)
On this day in 2020, Disney Lgeend Marge Champion passed away at the age of 101.

As a teen, Champion was the live-action reference model for Snow White. She would later be used as the model for the Blue Fairy in Pinocchio, Mr. Stork in Dumbo, and Hyacinth Hippo in the “Dance of the Hours” segment of Fantasia.
