Disney Celebrates The Journey of Water With Some VIPs
With Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana set to have its Grand Opening in just a few days, Disney invited some very special guests to preview the attraction before it officially opens.
A Visit From the Boys & Girls Club
The first group of VIPs to experience the Journey of Water were students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida, who had the “time of their lives befriending the ocean.”
Taking an even deeper dive, Walt Disney Imagineers spent time with the young explorers, giving them a glimpse of how the experience was created.
Former Boys & Girls Club member Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings also joined in on the fun, helping students learn about water conservation and protecting the planet.
“As a former cast member and now Orange County Mayor, I see how invested Disney is [and has been] in making positive impacts for our community,” said Mayor Demings. “What they’re doing at this attraction in teaching the importance of water conservation to the thousands of guests who visit EPCOT each day will translate to awareness for our environments here in Florida and around the world.”
Introducing Carter
Coming in from a little bit farther north, Disney also hosted a special visitor from Maine.
9-year-old Carter has been in and out of hospitals since he was four months old.
As part of his visit to Walt Disney World with his family, Carter had wished to meet his favorite Disney hero, Moana.
In order to grant Carter’s wish, Disney thought that the young warrior would be the perfect first guest to meet Moana in her new greeting location at EPCOT.
Carter’s eyes lit up when he saw the young wayfarer and a smile never left his face as he experienced Journey of Water with two Imagineers who helped create the new attraction.
As part of Carter’s wish trip, he also got a chance to explore all four theme parks and stay with Give Kids The World Village.
Journey of Water
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana will officially open on October 16.
It’s great to see Disney already using the attraction to bring smiles to young visitors’ faces.
