Kevin Feige Told Hugh Jackman Not to Return For ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
Following the release of 2017’s Logan, it looked like Hugh Jackman’s time as Wolverine had finally come to an end.
After portraying the iconic mutant in X-Men films for almost two decades, Logan was perhaps the definitive send-off for one of the superhero genre’s great characters.

Kevin Feige Told Jackman Not to Come Back
When faced with the possibility of reprising his iconic role once again, Jackman faced a dilemma — would playing Wolverine again undermine the perfect ending that was Logan?
Interestingly, it was Marvel head Kevin Feige, not Jackman, who was most weary of the actor reprising his role once again.

“I said, ‘Let me give you a piece of advice, Hugh. Don’t come back,’” Feige recalled to Empire Magazine. “‘You had the greatest ending in history with Logan. That’s not something we should undo.’”
After taking a long drive, Jackman decided that he wanted to take another crack at the character.

“I was about an hour into the drive,” he remembers. “And that question came into my head: ‘What do I want to do?’ And as soon as I asked the question, I wanted to do ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ I just knew it. I drove for another hour. Couldn’t stop thinking about it. And I got out of the car, called Ryan, and said, ‘Ryan, if you’ll have me, I’m in.’”
The rest, as they say, is history.

The proof, however, will be in the pudding when Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26.
