Go Back in Time With Us at Disneyland After Dark: Throwback Nite!
We got to attend quite possibly one of the coolest Disney events ever, and we’re taking you with us to see everything there was to enjoy!
Disney Parks occasionally hold special and separately ticketed after-hours events, and we were so excited to take a trip down Disneyland’s memory lane. On April 18th and 20th, it’s time for the return of Disneyland After Dark: Throwback Nite, where ticketholders can travel back to the 1950s and 1960s!
Throwback Nite Entry
In 2023, Disneyland After Dark: Throwback Nite takes place on April 18th and 20th, with tickets costing $129 on the 18th and $145 on the 20th.
Tickets may still be available if you want to attend the event on the 20th!
The event lasts from 9PM to 1AM, but an event ticket grants you access to Disneyland Park as early as 6PM, no park reservation required. If you want to visit Disneyland before 6PM, you need a separate park ticket and a park reservation.
The park closes to regular guests at 8PM.
MickeyBloggers Greg and Elyssa arrived at the gates of Disneyland at 6PM, where Cast Members were waiting with maps, lanyards, and wristbands.
They collected their map and a really fun lanyard that came with a card that resembled an old Disneyland ticket.
They also got orange wristbands so that Cast Members could easily identify them as event ticketholders.
For the event, ticket holders are encouraged to dress for the era, which is the 50s and 60s, but you must follow Disneyland’s costume guidelines.
Characters
Characters are a HUGE part of this event! We got to meet some amazing and super rare characters, such as Dumbo…
Don’t mind us, just still thinking about how we got to meet Dumbo last night at Disneyland’s throwback nite!🥹🐘✨ pic.twitter.com/UcYYz0MyIz

We also got to meet characters like Mr. Tom Morrow, whose name you may have heard on a ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.
And we can’t forget Mademoiselle Upanova, whom you may remember from Fantasia!
You can check out more photos and videos of all the fun characters we met by clicking here!
Eats & Drinks
There are quite a few exclusive food and drinks available during the party, and we collected the food and beverage guide to take a look at all there was to offer.
The list separates out these special treats by land, and there are also three different churros available.
We stopped by the churro cart in the Castle Hub to order the Root Beer Float Churro, which came with root beer-flavored sugar and vanilla ice cream drizzle for $6.75.
As most Disneyland churros go, this one was delicious! We loved the sweet addition of the vanilla icing.
Make sure you check the food and beverage map to help you decide what eats or drinks you want to try during the event!
Photo Ops
Quite a few vintage photo opportunities were placed around Disneyland, like this Disneyland ticket booth…
…this PeopleMover background…
…a Disneyland sign…
…and a futuristic Tomorrowland background!
Now let’s go shopping.
Exclusive Merchandise
A few pieces of exclusive merchandise were available for purchase, but note that t-shirts were not available due to a supposed misprint. Still, you could purchase an ornament or a magnet featuring the Throwback Nite logo…
…or choose a more unique item, like a Citizen watch! Two exclusive designs were available to event guests, with one watch featuring the Partners Statue and the other Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
Now let’s catch the fireworks show.
Entertainment and Fireworks
During the event, entertainment such as live music and dancing are available, and the night ends with a special fireworks show known as Fantasy in the Sky. This is actually the very first fireworks show that Disneyland ever displayed in 1958!
The show was only about three minutes long, which is understandable considering it was the very first Disneyland fireworks show. Clearly, fireworks have come a long way since then!
We hope this helps you decide whether this event may be something you’d be interested in Keep following MickeyBlog for more Disney news!
