We Met DUMBO At the Disneyland After Hours Throwback Nite!
Hey there, MickeyBlog readers! It’s the morning after the first Disneyland After Dark “Throwback Nite” of the year at the Disneyland Resort, and we hope you’re feeling as magical and excited to hear all about it as we are!
Our fabulous MickeyBloggers Greg and Elyssa attended the awesome, late-night party last night, which was the first of three that are set to be held at Disneyland this month. Going in, we knew we could expect to encounter all things retro-Disney, and were excited to see what 50s and 60s memories the event would “throwback” to.
We’ve already shown you all the characters we met at the event but we would be remiss not to point out one particular surprise character meet and greet that left us positively squealing with elation…
Don’t mind us, just still thinking about how we got to meet Dumbo last night at Disneyland’s throwback nite!🥹🐘✨ pic.twitter.com/UcYYz0MyIz

It’s DUMBO!

Dumbo
As one of the rarest, most elusive, most talked-about character sightings, Dumbo is always going to make guests stop and squeal in the parks. I mean, just look at him!

Dumbo
If you’ve been a Disney Parks-goer for a long time, you’ll no doubt remember the old-style character “looks.” You know, the ones with their piercing eyes and somewhat alarming appearances that, understandably, had the ability to give kids like me nightmares.
I’m not too sure what it is about Dumbo here, but I’m kind of getting the same vibe from him? Kind of less sweet, more striking, right? Am I alone here, or do you agree?
Maybe it’s all the blinking and winking he’s doing. Or his wrinkly little knees. I’m not sure.
Although, if you are in the camp of thinking Dumbo here is truly adorable, I can see that side too! With his little mirrored hat, clutching that sparkly silver feather in his trunk, he does have a rather… unique… sweetness to him.
Especially posing for interactions outside his signature flying attraction (which one of our MickeyBlog colleagues recently argued was the best ride in the parks), it’s hard to resist this adorable elephant and ask for a photo. He is very fun and photogenic, as you can see from the selfie that Greg snapped with him, below!
If you’re headed to one of the Disneyland After Dark “Throwback Nite” events this month, make sure you stay on the lookout for rare and wonderful character sightings. Greg and Elyssa spotted so many awesome characters on their visit last night – so make sure to stay tuned to MickeyBlog.com to see who else we found!
