“Unhealthy” Air Quality Warnings Issued for Central Florida
The weather can really put a damper on your Disney World trip if you’re not prepared. The area is subject to extreme heat and humidity, severe thunderstorms, and even hurricanes.
That’s why it’s good to know what you’re walking into so you can prepare as best as possible. And today, we have some important info regarding the air quality in Disney World.
Bad Air Quality in Central Florida
The air quality around most of Central Florida is “unhealthy” today according to WKMG. This is due to the smoke moving down from the Canadian wildfires.
The air quality could continue to deteriorate throughout the day today (Tuesday). This could cause problems for sensitive groups like people with heart or lung disease, older adults, children, and teenagers.
To reduce your exposure if you’re a part of any of these groups, it’s suggested to avoid strenuous outdoor activities or keep outdoor activities short, or move your activities indoors.
The general public is not as likely to be affected by the air quality, but there are ways to take precautions if you’re concerned. If you are healthy, you can consider choosing less strenuous outdoor activities, shorten the amount of time you’re being active outside, or just stay inside.
The smoke is from the Canadian wildfires that are happening near the Hudson Bay. It’s being moved south by an area of high pressure that’s moving through the Tennessee River Valley, as well as a storm out in the Atlantic ocean.
The smoke should start to go away on Wednesday, but haze could linger across the northern half of Florida through the rest of the week.
So, if you are in Disney World right now, just be conscious of this information and try to minimize time outside if you’re concerned you might be affected. Stay tuned for more Disney World news and updates.
