Work Continues In Toontown after Wear-and-Tear Plagues Newly Reimagined Land
Things haven’t been so tickety-boo over at Toontown in Disneyland theme park. Since its reimagining earlier this year, the area seems constantly under construction for repairs. Currently, Centoonial Park a popular play area has been closed and will remain so for another month. It is slated to reopen on October 22, 2023. This closure will be immediately followed by another month-long Toontown refurbishment for Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard which closes on October 23 for repairs.
According to a recent piece in the OC Register, construction walls can once again be seen throughout Mickey’s Toontown as crews make repairs to the Disneyland neighborhood which features Minnie & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Roger Rabbit’s Car-toon Spin and Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Gadget Coaster.
Since this area of Disneyland reopened back in March, Toon-Town has had to fix a range of issues including wear-and-tear to the artificial turf and broken water features. Disneyland started closing segments of Toontown back in June, just a few months after the re-imagined area made its debut. According to the OC Register, some of the areas worked on earlier this summer are now behind construction walls once again as additional repairs are made.
Disney officials have said that they hope to have work completed on the area by November.
The projects being carried out include updating the flooring around the Dreaming Tree, fixing a leak at the Mickey and Minnie Fountain, as well as removing some of the artificial turf in the area, and replacing it with a brick walkway.
The Register reports that many of the interactive elements in the Goofy-themed How-To-Play Yard at Toontown have broken down over the last few months and that some have even been removed entirely. In addition, the water play area that was expected to be a part of Toontown has yet to open to the public.
Toontown at Disneyland is a popular spot for kids to play and unwind but the amount of traffic to the area has left some of the new facilities in an obvious state of disrepair. We will keep you posted as work continues on Toontown so keep following along with us.
