MCO Is Once Again Winning the Internet, This Time With Star Wars Characters and Airplane Liveries
Well, it’s been a minute, but we’re thrilled to report that the folks at MCO are back to their usual shenanigans.
Once again, the social media team at Orlando International Airport have put the fun back in travel, and are providing our feeds with the most perfectly pointless comedy gold we never knew we never knew we needed.
And, let me tell you, I am so, so, so happy to be back covering this content.
I hope you like Star Wars, aircraft liveries, and utter nonsense, as this is the kind of midweek news update you’re definitely not gonna want to miss!
Now, before I begin, I’m just going to give you a quick throwback to February of this year. This was when, for no reason whatsoever, MCO decided to spend a good few hours posting photos of Chris Evans in outfits matching various airlines.
Yes, seriously.
We all had a fabulous time following along with that thread, so it was wonderful to see the team come back with a sequel in March, that time comparing The Muppets to each airline.
Now, since then, this series of color-comparing comedy posts seems to have ground to an abrupt stop at the airline. I mean, it’s fine – they’re busy ensuring safe travel for record numbers of passengers or whatever, not to mention dealing with that whole lawsuit fiasco – so I suppose we were lucky to have enjoyed the two previous feeds when they came. We didn’t even need a third installment in the series.
Right?
WRONG. Fasten your seatbelts and familiarize yourselves with the nearest exit, kids, as MCO are back with another new comedy thread we are thrilled to be able to share with you today!
This time, they’re giving Star Wars characters, represented as aircraft liveries. Are you as intrigued as we are? Great! Let’s check out those tweets!
Nobody:
Absolutely nobody:

Or Xs, or whatever they’re called these days.
Up First, it’s Luke Skywalker
Starting with the classic characters, we can see they’ve matched Lukey here with a rather spectacular Icelandair livery, with the Northern Lights resembling the alien-green glow of his saber perfectly.
Princess Leia
For Leia, MCO has gone pure, simple, and classy, with a basic white Delta livery. It’s not too exciting, but I guess it works.
Anakin Skywalker
What color is Anakin’s lightsaber? Jet Blue? Ahh. I see what they did there.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan has also been matched with a blue livery, this one sporting the word “Welcome” in countless different languages. Maybe they were trying to match Kenobi’s friendly, polyglot personality, perhaps?
Anyway, the fun didn’t stop there…

R2-D2 & C-3PO
Moving on to our favorite sidekicks, we’ve got R2-D2…
… and C-3PO, both instantly recognizable as airplanes thanks to their iconic color schemes.
Chewbacca
Could Chewie really be matched with anything other than an aircraft made to resemble the Millennium Falcon itself?
Mace Windu
Because purple, of course.
Han Solo
This one’s a stroke of pure genius – it’s FROZEN! Get it? Ha!
Kylo Ren
We’re into the newer trilogy now, where Kylo apparently has his own terrifying airplane already roaming the skies.
Finn
About as self-explanatory as you can get.
Rey
Looking bright and ready in yellow!
Poe Dameron
Is there even a plane in this photo? Honestly, all I see is Oscar Isaac.
BB-8
Happy beeps…. orange, white, and gray circles… happy boops.
Mandalorian
We’re moving on to some expert Disney+ marketing here, with a nice look at Mandalorian, matching a “silver” and black livery.
MCO knows all about these bounty hunters after the Orlandolorian visited the airport for a brief stint between missions back in 2022!
Cal Kestis
Air Cal! Cause he’s called Cal. Ingenious.
Ahsoka
This is a great one! Blue, orange, spikey. I can see it.
Grogu
This lil’ cutie has been represented by a frog livery. He’d probably just want to eat it, but it’s still very cute!
And finally…
Yoda
A seagull. Why not?
Anyway, I think it’s safe to say that we have had a blast following along with MCO’s hilarious thread this morning on X.
We weren’t the only ones, either, as others decided to join in on the character-plan matchups, too!
