Surprisingly Low Crowds at Magic Kingdom Ahead of 4th July Weekend
Good morning from the Magic Kingdom, everyone! The sun is shining, it’s a holiday weekend, and everything is busy and bustling!
Or is it?
Wait, where is everyone?
Yep, it’s the 4th of July weekend, and MickeyBlog are stunned to report that the crowd levels here at the Magic Kingdom are surprisingly low.
Our MickeyBloggers were enjoying a Sunday stroll around the park this morning, taking these photos around 10am, and it’s really quite alarming to see the park so quiet!
So many preparations are currently underway for the Magic Kingdom’s 4th of July celebrations on Tuesday, but it almost seems like barely anybody is around to notice!
Fourth of July weekend aside, we think it’s safe to say that these crowd levels are also unprecedented for any given Sunday in general, but especially during the summer season.
Yes, we’re aware that not all schools are out for summer yet, but we’re definitely in the midst of “vacation season” right now here in Orlando.
Still, all the shock aside, it’s definitely nice to be able to enjoy such a chilled-out and relaxed Sunday morning in the most magical park, without bustling crowds to contend with.
As we approach Frontierland on our walk, let’s stop for a moment to take a look at the current attraction wait times on our My Disney Experience app…
Wow, just look at that! A five minute wait for “it’s a small world”? And just twenty minutes for Princess Fairytale Hall?
Both Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Pirates of the Caribbean are both at twenty minute wait times also. We’re so shocked – it’s July!
These times are especially alarming when you consider how, just this week, a new pricing structure was released for the paid Disney Genie+ service. Amazingly, it looks like many Magic Kingdom guests aren’t going to need to bother today, with the vast majority of wait times under thirty minutes.
Apart from Peter Pan, of course. We feel like that ride’s low capacity, combined with its infamous icon status in Fantasyland, is always going to have high wait times, no matter what day it is!
Over in Tomorrowland, the wait times are also a bit of a mixed bag. TRON Lightcycle / Run is still operating a virtual queue system, but we’re very surprised to see the ever-popular Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is currently just a ten minute wait for guests!
Well, back to our walk now, as we enjoy the views of a rather empty Frontierland.
Even though it’s so quiet here, it’s hard not to feel patriotic at Disney with the 4th of July right around the corner. As always, there are so many exciting events and experiences planned for all across the resort, so any guest visiting this weekend is sure to be swept up in the most red, white, and blue celebrations!
One of our favorite aspects of this holiday is the food, and the menu of speciality treats available across Walt Disney World is sure to take your breath away this year.
We’ve already seen the sweetest of treats over at the Main Street Confectionery here at the Magic Kingdom, but you can check out the selection of dishes to be found around the wider resort here!
While there isn’t much to be found in the way of trimmings over here in Frontierland, we have also been loving all the glorious flags and banners that have been flying around Main Street, U.S.A. for the past few days now, and you can check out our photos of these here.
The park has never looked so patriotic!
But, for now, let’s go back to looking at these mind-bogglingly empty streets.
We promise the park was actually open when these were taken, although you wouldn’t think it by the look of them! I mean, just look at the queue for Big Thunder Mountain…
It looks like a walk-on from this angle!
It’s funny, because just on Friday Orlando International Airport shared their expectations for a heavily busy weekend ahead. Maybe everyone was flying out of MCO, rather than in?
I don’t like to speculate, but these Magic Kingdom crowds (or lack of) sure are food for thought!
Anyway, if you’re planning a visit to Walt Disney World this week for July 4th, be sure to keep an open mind when it comes to crowd levels. We can’t say how long this quiet ambience will last, but we will definitely be making the most of it while we can!
As always, MickeyBlog will be providing coverage of all the 4th of July celebrations here at the Magic Kingdom and across Walt Disney World, so be sure to stay tuned to the blog and our social channels for all the festivities.
For now, however, we’re going to go enjoy some rides. With such low wait times, it’d be silly not to!
