Construction Update: Work Continues at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that construction is currently ongoing at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The resort is undergoing upgrades to its main building as well as other areas on the property. Our MickeyBlogger popped over to this Disney World Deluxe Resort to see how things are coming along at the Grand Floridian.
Those arriving at the Main Lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian will likely notice construction walls up around the lobby.
You can also see that scrims surround the upper balconies as work is also being done to Grand Floridian Club Level rooms!
As you can see from the image below, a portion of the main lobby area is now behind construction walls. You can see the Front Desk still in operation just to the right of the construction.
Work on the lobby will be done in stages and the Front Desk will remain on the ground floor but it may need to be moved to another spot in the lobby as work continues.
For those planning a stay or a visit at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, please note that you will encounter construction during the day.
Our MickeyBlogger Melissa visited the property recently and said it was quite noisy in the afternoon with construction crews hard at work.
However, most of the work in the Main Building at the Grand Floridian will be carried out during the day.
This spells good news for those spending most of your days at the theme parks.
At the moment, Disney isn’t giving too much away regarding the refurbishment.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is the last of Disney’s three monorail resorts to get a make-over.
Work was recently done at Disney’s Contemporary Resort which included a new eatery as well as new Incredibles-themed rooms.
Over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, a new port cochere was built, the Main Ceremonial House received an upgrade and Moana-theming was introduced to the guest rooms.
Over at the Grand Floridian during our most recent visit, we also noticed construction walls extending around the exterior of the building and to the Summerhouse outside.
As you can see from these images, the roof has been removed at Summerhouse.
Scaffolding and construction walls are up and it looks like the roof is currently being replaced.
This building is often used for outdoor events including Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings!
Construction walls also surround the main building.
As of going to print, Disney has not said how long they expect the refurbishment at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will take.
If you are planning on visiting or staying at the property in 2023 then be prepared for the possibility of ongoing construction.
This is a story that we will continue to keep you updated on weekly!
