VIDEO: Brandy Reprises Her Iconic Role as Cinderella in the New ‘Descendants: The Rise of Red’ Trailer
DThe next chapter in The Descendants franchise will be written when Descendants: The Rise of Red hits Disney+ on July 12.
The upcoming Descendants film will star Kylie Cantrall as Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts and princess of the hostile kingdom of Wonderland.
“When her mother, the tyrannical Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora), incites a coup against Auradon, Red must join forces with Chloe (Cinderella and King Charming’s daughter played by Malia Baker) to travel back in time and undo the traumatic event that set the queen down her villainous path,” the film’s synopsis reads.
A New Villain Kid
Ahead of the film’s release, Cantrall gave ABC’s On The Red Carpet a hint at what to expect from her character.
“My character is like, she’s active! She’s a crazy girl, jumping off rooftops, and it’s gonna be a little bit of everything. But I think that everyone’s gonna be able to kind of relate to it and enjoy it,” Cantrall explained.

In a new trailer released for the upcoming movie today, audiences get a chance to hear the new song, “What’s My Name (Red Version),” performed by China Anne McClain (who plays Uma in the film) and Cantrall.
The clip also gives fans a glimpse of Brandy and Paolo Montalban, who are reprising their roles as Cinderella and Prince Charming from 1997’s Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, check it out now!
In addition to “What’s My Name (Red Version),” The Rise of Red Soundtrack will feature six new original songs as well as a cover of “So This is Love” from Cinderella and two reprises. The film’s soundtrack will be released on July 12.
