May 7th featured the release of a classic Disney soundtrack, the premiere of a Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and the soft opening of a Disney Park. So, let’s get going!
World Roller Hockey League Rink Opens at the Disney-MGM Studios (1993)
On this day in 1993, The World Roller Hockey League Rink opened at the Disney-MGM Studios.
The rink would only last one season.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame Soundtrack Released (1996)
On this day in 1996, The Hunchback of Notre Dame: An Original Walt Disney Records Soundtrack was released.
The soundtrack featured the hit single
Geppetto Airs (2000)
On this day in 2000 the musical Geppetto aired.
Based on the story of Pinocchio, the film starred Drew Cary and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian Premiers (2008)
On this day in 2008, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian premiere was held.
A sequel to the The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, the film would be released on May 16.
Disney Feature Animation Building Renamed
On this day in 2010, the Disney Feature Animation Building was renamed for Roy E. Disney.
The office once housed the office of Roy E. Disney who passed away in December 2009.
Black Carpet Event Held For Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)
On this day in 2011, a “black carpet” premiere for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was held at Disneyland.
In attendance were stars Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, and Keith Richards.
Star Tours: The Adventure Continues Opens (2013)
On this day in 2013, Star Tours: The Adventures Continues opened in Tokyo Disneyland.
Shanghai Disneyland Begins Soft Openings (2016)
On this day in 2016, Shanghai Disneyland Park began its soft openings.
The new theme park would official open on June 16.
Disney Fairy Tale Weddings Premiers (2017)
On this day in 2017, Disney Fairy Tale Weddings premiered on Freeform.
Hosted by Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell, the show featured three iconic Disney Destinations and some of the offerings from Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons.
