Live-Action ‘Lilo And Stitch’ Movie Casts Two More Characters
Disney’s live-action version of Lilo and Stitch is finally starting to round out its cast.
Following the announcement that newcomer Maia Kealoha will be portraying Lilo, comes news that Emmy and Tony Award winner Courtney B. Vance is joining the film as Cobra Bubbles.
While it is still unclear how closely the live-action remake will follow the plot of the original animated movie, Cobra Bubbles was a former CIA agent turned social worker in that film.
The character was originally voiced by Ving Rhames.
Vance is a 2x Emmy Award winner, taking home hardware for his guest appearance on HBO’s Lovecraft County, and his role as Johnnie Cochran in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. He has also appeared in films such as The Hunt for Red October, Dangerous Minds, Space Cowboys, and The Mummy.
Kahiau Machado Will Play David Kawena
In other casting news, newcomer Kahiau Machado has been cast as David Kawena, Nani’s love interest.
Machado joins Sydney Elizebeth Agudong who will be playing Nani, and Zach Galifianakis in the film, which is being helmed by Dean Fleischer Camp.
The filmmaker was a recent best-animated feature Oscar nominee for Marcell the Shell with Shoes On.
While the live-action Lilo and Stitch will not be released to theaters, the film is intended to be a major attraction for Disney+.
