This spot has a little bit of everything and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner here.
Capt. Cook’s has food made to order, but they also have some grab and go items like pastries, snacks, drinks, ice cream, and more.
There’s a whole giant pastries case!
You can also find a big condiments station here!
Right now, the hours are from 7AM to 11PM every day. But, definitely make sure you check the hours for your trip, because they can change!
There is both indoor and outdoor seating available.
Capt. Cook’s Menu
On the breakfast menu, you’ll find some iconic things like Tonga Toast and Mickey waffles. There are also some plant-based items available!
There are also kids items available like oatmeal and Mickey waffles.
Sides include bacon, sausage, or breakfast potatoes.
As for lunch and dinner, the menu does change a bit. There are some Polynesian favorites like Thai Coconut Meatballs, as well as American entrees like cheeseburgers, wings, nachos, and more.
You can get a salad as well, along with some plant-based items.
For the little ones, they can check out chicken and pineapple skewers or more classic options like chicken nuggets.
And, side items on the menu include macaroni and cheese, French fries, and more.
The items moving forward are available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are several items available from the bakery like different cupcakes or pastries.
Snack include assorted cereals, hummus and pretzels, fruit, and more.
And, don’t forget about dessert! Right now, all that’s listed is a pineapple cupcake (which is delicious, by the way!).
As for beverages, there are a LOT of options available.
There are also some specialty coffees available!
And, there’s a selection of beer…
…and wine to choose from!
Okay, let’s eat some food!
Capt. Cook’s Food
First up, we got some breakfast items. We started with the absolutely iconic Tonga Toast for $10.49. This is banana-stuffed sourdough bread, battered, deep-fried, and dusted with cinnamon-sugar served with bacon or sausage (we chose sausage!).
This is an item that’s also available up at Kona Island, but it’s $17 up there and comes with a berry compote. So, if you want Tonga Toast for a cheaper price, this is the place to get it!
We grabbed some syrup from the condiment bar for the toast as we do definitely think it needs something to dip the toast in or to pour on top. There is also some strawberry jam available if you want it!
This is such a fun option! There’s a very large portion, so you could split this with someone else if you wanted to.
The outside is crispy and the inside is fluffy, which is exactly what you want here. We wish there was a little bit more of the banana filling instead to even out the ratio of bread to filling, but it is still delish.
It’s like dessert for breakfast, which we’re definitely not complaining about!
Next up, we got the Power Breakfast Bowl for $9.99. It includes plant-based sausage and scramble served with breakfast potatoes and red peppers. This is an entirely plant-based entree!
The plant-based eggs we found to be pretty good. There is a slight granular quality to them, but it’s nothing that can’t be overlooked.
The taste and texture resembles real eggs so much that you honestly might not be able to tell the difference if you didn’t know!
The breakfast potatoes with this are seasoned really well, which we loved.
The plant-based sausage was also very tasty! It filled us up without weighing us down (which normal sausage can sometimes do!).
This is another big portion, so you could definitely share it if you want to.
Finally, we got one of the lunch and dinner items — the Thai Coconut Meatballs. These are house-made all-beef chili-garlic meatballs cooked in a coconut cream served over white rice for $10.49.
Once again, we have a decent portion of food here. It’s a really unique option that has both sweetness and heat!
The coconut flavor is definitely there and adds that nice sweetness and creaminess to the sticky rice. There is a bit of spice, but it’s not overpowering and really enhances the depth of flavor here.
The meatballs are big enough to make this a filling dish! It’s also listed as a Polynesian favorite because it’s exclusive to the resort.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Capt. Cook’s is a great food option at this resort if you’re looking for a quick service meal! It’s not a very large spot, but it does make up for its lack of space with good theming.
There are also a lot of chairs on the outside patio where you can sit and enjoy your food. Also, right next door is Tiki Terrace, where you can get some fun cocktails.
We would suggest this as a good spot to get some quick breakfast before hitting the parks, or grab something after the parks since it’s open pretty late!
It’s also a nice place to grab a snack if you’re having a pool day at the Polynesian. We wouldn’t necessarily leave the parks to eat here, but it’s a great option if you’re at the hotel!
