VIDEO: See Walt Disney as a Hologram in Disney100: The Exhibition
2023 is The Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary, and you can celebrate in more ways than you think.
While the main celebration is taking place at Disneyland, there’s another way you can celebrate without visiting the parks — if you happen to live near a specific city, that is. And you won’t BELIEVE what this special Disney100 exhibit includes!
Walt Disney Hologram
Disney100: The Exhibition premieres at The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA on February 18th, and Disney just gave us a first look at one of the key features of the exhibit.
The exhibition will include 10 different galleries within 15,000 square feet, showcasing Disney’s “Crown Jewels,” or over 250 “rarely-seen” original artworks, artifacts, costumes, props, and more.
And in addition to all that fun, guests will also be able to enjoy a Walt Disney hologram! Yes, you read that right — a hologram of Walt Disney.
As reported by the New York Times, Disney has created a Walt Disney hologram by using “archival video and artificial intelligence tools” to develop “a full-size digital avatar that speaks in Walt’s voice and appears as part of interactive exhibitions of Disney artwork, props and costumes that will tour the globe until at least 2028.”
Becky Cline, Director of the Disney Archives, said, “I get goosebumps every time I see it.”
Cline continued, “Frankly, there are people in this world who don’t realize that Walt was a real person. We want to make sure that everyone knows that our company was founded by real people — creative storytellers. Because that is so important to everything we do at Disney.”
You can watch the Walt Disney hologram in a video shared by Scott Gustin on Twitter!
